EXTERIOR

Based on the venerable Land Rover Defender 110, the Perentie was developed in period by JRA Limited for the Australian Defence Force (ADF), where its dependability and robust character saw it service with distinction across four continents from 1987. To meet the strict ADF requirements, the Perentie featured a range of original upgrades over the standard 110 including a redesigned chassis frame, differentials and suspension, an upgraded chassis, a Roll Over Protection System (ROPS), bonnet mounted tools and the ultra durable Isuzu engine.

The Arksen P110 breathes new life into an overlanding icon through a full ground-up, body-off restoration with extensive upgrades and modernisations. ‘Project Ituri’ of which 10 will be built is finished in Mercedes Mojave Silver metallic with a matte finish, complemented by black extended wheel arches, exterior trim and a black Arksen canvas roof. The body is also equipped with new sliding front windows, new seals and rubbers throughout whilst also featuring four external storage compartments. Condition is superb throughout given the minimal mileage covered.

Engineered in Australia with meticulous attention to detail, the restoration and rebuild process included a black galvanised and powder coated chassis frame treated further with Raptor protection.

INTERIOR

The bespoke interior features two ISRI comfort seats, separated by an integral armrest, cubby and cupholder centre console, and two lap belt-equipped crew seats in the load bay all finished in quilted diamond-stitched black leather.

The sumptuous leather is complimented by a black Alcantara-trimmed dashboard and headlining, black leather door cards and black alloy chequer plate-clad stowage over an onboard water tank with portable pump. Power Steering, Air Conditioning and upgraded heating system ensures the basics are covered whilst a reversing camera, Pioneer Car Play touchscreen and an auxiliary battery system ensure the car is technically proficient and up to date.

A matching black full-width Exmoor rubber floor trim sits above sound deadening and a composite transmission tunnel.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Under the bonnet now sits a turbocharged Isuzu 3.9L ‘4BD1’ inline-four diesel engine which that sends its power to powers all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.

With the engine rebuilt with parts replaced as necessary alongside new ancillaries, the addition of a KLR turbo delivers significant torque uplift with almost full torque available from idle.

The 4 speed LT95 gearbox has been stripped and rebuilt with parts replaced as necessary. Drive train upgrades include: front diff upgrade to Aschcroft ATB; transfer box / centre diff rebuilt with new bearings and modified gears for improved engagement and new dash mounted diff lock controls; rear diff upgraded to Detroit ‘no spin’; drive shafts

upgraded to heavy duty Maxidrive plus heavy duty KLR clutch with revised geometry for improved pedal efforts. Quite the spec list and ready for any green lane, beach visit or urban kerb!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

Riding on an set of 16-inch Wolf heavy duty steel wheels finished in gloss-black, the contact patch is provided by BFGoodrich with their Mud-Terrain T/A tyres – key for all manner of work on and off road.

With big disc brakes front and rear the car pulls up strongly.

HISTORY FILE

Having covered it’s running in procedure, this new and improved Perentie has covered just a few hundred miles since build.

The car comes with the summary of the restoration work carried out by the vehicle builders (KLR), engineering certification / compliance for the rear seating, and the ex- ADF bill of sale for the original donor 110 Perentie vehicle.

It is accompanied by its ADF Logbook, ADF bill of sale and a summary of the recent specialist restoration and modification work.
