Description
Completed in December 1978, this Ferrari was finished in Rosso Chiaro with full black hide and air conditioning. It was originally fitted with 7.5" x 14" wide wheels with Michelin XWX tyres and is now equipped with 16" Speedline wheels and new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
First registered on 22nd February 1979, it is one of 547 officially imported, with 259 remaining taxed or SORN'd and just 169 finished in red. Delivered via Maranello Concessionaires Ltd (Thorpe, Surrey) to Brighton Car Concessionaires as a demonstrator, the car was purchased by Huddersfield Garages following Brighton’s liquidation. It was then sold to its first private owner, Mr E G of Buckinghamshire in 1980. Later, it was acquired by respected Derbyshire Ferrari specialist Nick Cartwright, who sold it to a close friend in London in 1986. Stored for around a decade, the car was eventually repurchased by Nick and fully recommissioned for the road, with approximately £20,000 spent (roughly £60,000 today).
The car was sold again by Nick to an electrical engineer from Lancashire in October 2002 with 12,300 miles on the clock. Maintenance was carried out by JMH, R&D, and Autoshield. It has now covered just 26,000 miles.
Upon purchase, the car was sent to our workshop for a full service.
Recent major service includes:
Checking and adjusting valve clearances
Compression check
Replacing camshaft oil seals, camshaft, and auxiliary drive belts
