A 911 hasn’t been a difficult car to drive for years, but it’s truer now than ever that it’s extremely simple to exploit, with the rear positioning of its engine being usable as an advantage rather than functioning as a potential pendulum of doom. Background

The 991.2 Porsche 911 Carrera marked a significant shift to twin-turbocharged 3.0 litre flat-six engines, delivering more power, torque, and better efficiency with virtually no turbo lag, making it a faster, more flexible, and highly capable everyday supercar. Key upgrades included a new infotainment system PCM 4.0 with Apple CarPlay, a driver-mode selector on the steering wheel, subtle styling tweaks including vertical engine slats and 3D rear LED lights. It is widely praised for its blend of supercar performance, daily usability and luxurious interior.

Exterior

Our hand selected Porsche 911 Carrera looks stunning in its coat of Miami Blue, a special order colour for the 991.2. The paintwork condition is excellent, with no blemishes on any panel. The 911 Carrera has been machine polished and waxed with Autofinesse Soul Carnauba Wax by us, which will help protect the paintwork and repel surface contaminants. All the trim has a perfect finish, as do the front and clear rear lights, which are free from any damage or moisture buildup. The windows drop as they should when you open the door. The engine and boot struts also operate as they should. The optional Panoramic Glass Electric Tilt/Slide Sunroof works perfectly as well.

Interior

The optional Hardback Sports Seats Plus come with 4-way Electric Adjustment and optional 3-stage heating. Just like the rest of the Black extended leather interior with silver stitching, they are in excellent condition and provide a perfect contrast to the Miami Blue bodywork. The optional Alcantara GT Sport Steering Wheel has full-size metal PDK gear shift paddles, allowing quick and effective manual gearshifts on demand. There are no marks or signs of wear to any of the trim, panels or switchgear, with the leather retaining a wholly fresh appearance throughout.

Engine and Transmission

Our 911 Carrera is equipped with the 3.0 litre flat six DFI twin-turbo engine. The 911 Carrera engine produces 365bhp and 322lbft of torque. The axle load distribution of approximately 40:60 ensures high directional stability and superb road behaviour. The engine starts cleanly when cold or hot, there is no smoke whatsoever either at startup or when driving. There are no unusual sounds or rattles when the engine is running. Our 911 Carrera is equipped with the highly desired PASM switchable sports suspension system, which includes the dashboard switch that stiffens the suspension in an instant, increasing connection to the road.

The Porsche is fitted with Sport Chrono Package Plus, which adds SPORT, SPORT PLUS, INDIVIDUAL, DYNAMIC RESPONSE and LAUNCH CONTROL modes that sharpen the throttle response, decreases shift speeds, hold gears for longer and blips the throttle on downshifts whilst also adding a dashboard mounted stopwatch to add to the sporting image of the 911 Carrera. These modes are selected through the ‘Ferrari style’ manettino rotary dial located on the optional heated multifunction sports leather steering wheel.

The optional 7-speed double-clutch PDK transmission system provides instant changes, unleashing the power of the engine with minimal fuss. Because it has been specified in combination with Sport Chrono Package Plus, it unlocks additional shift speeds in SPORT PLUS, DYNAMIC RESPONSE and LAUNCH CONTROL modes. These modes are only available with these options selected from the factory along with PDK. They enable the Carrera to respond and accelerate faster than the standard car, reducing the in-gear acceleration and the headline 0-60mph time by 0.4 seconds to just 4.2 seconds.

Our 911 Carrera is equipped with the highly desired Porsche Switchable Exhaust PSE system, which unleashes a more sporty sound both on acceleration and lift off. With SPORT or SPORT PLUS mode enabled, the sound increases further, with pops and crackles when you lift off the throttle.

This Carrera has the PADM dynamic engine/transmission mounts, which electronically control the oscillations and vibrations of the entire drivetrain, especially the engine. By adapting stiffness and damping characteristics to changes in driving style and road surface conditions, the dynamic gearbox mounts combine the benefits that otherwise distinguish hard and soft gearbox mounting arrangements. For the driver, the results are tangible. Handling is perceptibly more stable under load-change conditions and in fast corners. Whenever a less assertive driving style is adopted, the dynamic gearbox mounts automatically soften to enhance comfort. You experience the best of the best worlds—uncompromisingly sporty performance in corners, yet with a high degree of comfort. Changing the Drive Mode enables you to switch the dynamic gearbox mounts from Normal to Sport or Performance mode. The TFT screen in the right-hand circular instrument enables you to view the lateral and longitudinal G-forces as they act on the vehicle.

Wheels, Tyres and Brakes

Our 911 Carrera comes fitted with the optional 20-inch Carrera S IV lightweight alloy wheels finished in Gloss Black, which are unmarked, free of damage and corrosion. The brakes are phenomenal, cross drilled and vented discs front and rear. The callipers are Satin Black from the factory with PORSCHE lettering. The tyres are matching Porsche N1-rated Pirelli P-Zeros, with lots of life left.
