A rare opportunity to acquire an outstanding example of Vauxhall’s iconic homologation special, this 1979 Chevette 2300 HS is a remarkably original and beautifully preserved survivor with just 42,000 miles from new.

Supplied with an exceptional MOT history dating back to 1984, the car has had only five former keepers, reflecting careful long-term ownership throughout its life. The engine has been professionally rebuilt and is fitted with twin 48 DHLA Dellorto carburettors, an uprated throttle linkage, and an oil cooler, delivering crisp throttle response, excellent heat management, and fantastic, linear power. A high-torque starter motor ensures effortless starting.

Power is transmitted through the correct dog-leg 5-speed gearbox to a limited-slip rear axle, providing the engaging and purposeful driving experience for which the HS is renowned.

Inside, the original interior remains in wonderful condition, a testament to the car’s low mileage and sympathetic ownership. All correct period HS decals and trims remain present, further underlining the car’s authenticity.

Importantly, this Chevette benefits from a dealer-applied Ziebart rust prevention system from new, which has played a key role in preserving the car so well over the decades. The result is a structurally excellent and highly original example that stands out in today’s market.
