1986 MERCEDES-BENZ 300

Collected from Puttocks Ltd, Mercedes-Benz in Guildford, Surrey, in August 1986 by A Fielding, this R107 300 SL has lived a pampered life, having covered only 22,700 miles since. Finished in Nautical Blue Metallic over a Grey Leather interior, the fabric folding roof is a beautiful contrasting dark blue, with the car also retaining its hard top and stand. Well known to us a SLSHOP, this 300SL has been touched with celebrity, having been bought by English footballer Peter Crouch as a 30th birthday gift for his wife Abbey Clancy. Since then, it's changed hands to its present owner, who has, like its previous custodians, used it sparingly and lovingly looked after it to retain it in its superb condition. That lack of use is why it's being moved on, with the present owner keen that someone else gets to enjoy this wonderful example. Its charmed life is very obvious when viewing this car, as it is in very good overall condition. Nautical Blue Metallic suits the R107, with its paintwork in excellent condition, the chrome all bright and straight and the wheels free from and parking nicks, with the interior similarly neat and tidy - this car benefitting from the optional fitment of rear seats. The hood is in fantastic condition, and mechanically this 300 SL feels much the same as it would have when it was driven from the dealership in 1986. There's a stamped-up service book to verify the mileage, with hand-written notes from its current owner also highlighting its occasional use. Plenty of other documentation, including numerous MOTs verify that low mileage, while there's ample evidence of regular servicing with numerous invoices outlining its maintenance over the years. An original brochure is in there, along with all the Mercedes-Benz booklets, owner's manual and even a print-out of a newspaper article describing Peter Crouch's generous gift back in 2016, and a note of his ownership, too, on an old V5. A low mileage 300SL in very good condition throughout and finished in a desirable colour combination would be appealing enough but adding in some celebrity sparkle only increases its appeal and creates even more of a talking point for the next owner of this car. A car that's begging to have some more miles added onto its odometer this coming summer, and ready to be enjoyed.
