2011 PORSCHE CAYMAN

We are delighted to welcome back one of the rarer versions of the Boxsters and Caymans that we specialise in here at Flat Six Classics. RO11OVM is a 2011 987.2 Cayman 3.4 S with the 6-speed manual gearbox, in special order GT Silver with black leather. 79,455 miles. These are rare cars, as they were only on sale from 2009 - 2012 through the global financial crisis when sales volumes in the UK were depressed, with the new PDK gearbox option accounting for the majority of those sales.

The 987.2 or "Gen 2" Boxsters and Caymans were much more than just a cosmetic facelift of the 987 models. The all-new 9A1 series engines replaced the M97 engines from the Gen 1, at a stroke eliminating the main issue that affected the larger M97 engines - bore scoring. The new engines were also designed without an intermediate shaft, so the issue of IMS bearing failure is also eliminated, although this is actually very rare in post-2006 987 models with the redesigned "big" bearing.

First registered on 23rd March 2011, RO11OVM was specified with the following factory options: Heated hardback sports seats, 19" Carrera Sport wheels, PCM3.0 Porsche Communication Management (now with Apple Carplay/Android Auto upgrade), ParkAssistant, BOSE sound system.

The service history is very good, with 14 stamps recorded in the maintenance book, and a history file with lots of invoices for further works over the past 5 years. The car drives beautifully, with terrific performance from the 320bhp flat-six, combined with slick gear changes and powerful Brembo brakes. The steering and handling are the standout features of this model, the last to be fitted with a hydraulic power steering setup. There are few better sports cars in which to undertake a spirited drive on a UK B road!
