Overview
Fully recognised as modern classics today, the Jaguar XK8 and more powerful XKR models are maturing like fine wine and despite the original design having been around for 30 years now, they remain beautifully styled and hugely capable grand tourers. There's just something about a fast, luxury Jag that will always appeal and the XK line is no different.
Continuing the legacy of Jaguar's previous XK-monikered performance machines the XK8 debuted in '96, replacing the now rather elderly XJS. Although it did utilise that car's floorpan, practically everything else was brand new, including the venerable Jaguar AJ-V8 engine, a beautiful piece of engineering that would eventually find its way into the more performance-oriented XKR a couple of years later, bolstered by a supercharger to deliver 370bhp.
The second-gen XKR, featuring an all-aluminium design, arrived in 2007 with the engine now producing 410bhp, a figure that would rise to a whopping 503bhp in 2009 with the introduction of a 5.0-litre variant of the supercharged V8 as part of a wider facelift that would further strengthen the car's already impressive credentials. Once the reserve of the financially gifted, the XKR is now very much attainable for us mere mortals whilst still retaining all of the grace, space and pace inherent in such a high-end sporting luxury Jaguar.
This particular example is a post-facelift 2011 model and as such is blessed with the aforementioned 503bhp V8. Not only that but it's also incredibly well-equipped having been furnished with Jaguar's Black Pack and Speed Pack from the factory, meaning the car comes with black wheels and trim as well as an aerodynamic body kit and speed limiter increase to 174 mph, alongside the usual luxury refinements, including cooled and heated electric leather seats and a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
Recently machine polished and with full Jaguar service history to boot the car looks amazing and reportedly drives perfectly so if you're after a bit of posh performance without paying through the nose then this stunning XKR could be just the ticket.

The supercharged Jaguar XKR is an incredibly rapid machine that seamlessly blends precise, sports car handling and performance with luxury GT sensibilities and it's hard to not be suitably impressed by how it manages to be more involving than a lot of its rivals whilst simultaneously oozing class and sophistication. Throw in this particular example's all-important full Jaguar service history and the superb overall condition in which it presents itself and all of a sudden it becomes a very difficult car to ignore.
