Here we have a superb Right Hand Drive example of the elegant Mercedes Benz 280SL Pagoda.

Registered new in the UK on the 13th of March 1969, this W113 Pagoda, must be one of a very few examples to be unrestored (save for a repaint many years ago).

The shut lines and important details, such as the front inner wing pin stripe, reminds us that these cars are only original once and that the factory fit on these wonderful cars, only the finest restorers can match.

Other original details, such as the condition of the brightwork, door latches, and the original and now unavailable cadmium plating of the fuel injection pipelines, keeps reminding you, that you cannot better an original car, with its well-earned patina.

In the late 90’s, the history file records that the car had paintwork, and at the same time its sills, door shuts were treated with Ziebart.

The seats, carpets and hood, are from what we can ascertain original and give further confidence to the mileage of just over 50,000.

Indeed, there is a substantial file of receipts, covering servicing and maintenance from 1986/7 when the car had covered 26,000 miles.

Mot history from 1992, supports that the car has been used sparingly.

Cariconics Ltd sold this 280 SL to its present custodian in 2018, and it has been part of a wonderful collection of classic cars, cared for by the owner’s full-time engineer and always stored in a heated and dehumidified environment.
