Introduced in 1957 the Aston Martin DB2/4 Mark III was the last version of the Aston Martin DB2/4. In its two year production run, a mere 462 two-door saloon versions were made, all coachbuilt by Tickford Ltd. It was fitted with a 2.9-litre engine delivering 162 bhp which made a top speed of 120 mph possible. Initially fitted with drum brakes all around, the later versions were fitted with front disc brakes. Being the last of the DB2/4 series made, these are considered the best driving of them all.
This Aston Martin DB2/4 Mark III was delivered new in July 1958 to The Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers Ltd. In Westminster, London. The car was finished in Cardinal Grey with a Red Connolly leather interior. Being a late specification car it had the front disc brakes and had the optional extra of an Overdrive. Invoices accompanying the car show it was serviced regularly at the Aston Martin Works until 1972 after which it was in the hands of Aston Service Dorset until 1993.
The car was never completely restored but had a quality repaint in recent years. The leather interior is still original, with the carpets being replaced. Benefitting from a recent complete (matching numbers) engine overhaul by a Dutch specialist, the car is ready for its next custodian.
