2011 PORSCHE 911 GT3 RS 4.0

Introduction

The last, and the greatest 997. Perhaps even peak 911 ? Everything Porsche learnt over the eight years in which the 997 was manufactured was built into it’s send-off model. With only 600 made worldwide of which just 27 were UK, Right Hand Drive examples the 4 litre has been a collectors item since it first arrived.

With a stunning 4.0 litre Metzger flat six, which at the time of manufacture, was the most powerful road legal naturally aspirated engine Porsche had ever used, launched the GT3 RS from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and had a top speed of a superb 193 mph. Although the figures are impressive, the true wonder of the 4.0 is the driveability of the engine. While using the same crank as the GT3 R and RSR race cars the engine isn’t lumpy and doesn’t struggle at low revs, and as the revs grow the engine gets even better (if that’s even possible). The beautiful engine is matched, or dare I say bettered, by the exquisite 6 speed manual gearbox. With a short, snappy throw but an affirming click into gear it really is a drivers dream.

The GT3 RS 4.0 also came with a whole host of upgrades from the 3.8 Litre, borrowing a revised suspension set up from the 911 GT2 RS and a vast blanket of carbon fibre body panels making the 4.0 Litre just 1,360kg, 20kg lighter than it’s predecessor and only slightly heavier than the race cars. Although this reduction in weight doesn’t sound a lot, coupled with the unique suspension setup and higher levels of downforce the 4.0 litre is an animal on the track yet completely at home and composed on an undulating B road.

One of 27 UK, Right Hand Drive Cars delivered, Complete with a perfect, completely documented history including previous MOT Certificates, Invoices and Porsche’s Certificate of Authenticity, this GT3 RS 4.0 has covered a genuine 441 miles from new and is a beautiful, untarnished piece of Porsche history.

Serviced correctly and never painted since it left the factory, this example is as good as new with completely clear ECU data, which also confirms its genuine mileage.

Although it has 3 recorded keepers, it has been with the current owner since March 2012 who has diligently cared for the car with due service requirements and MOT’s carried out as required.

Factory harnesses and Fire Extinguisher remain in the boxes they came in, stored in the luggage compartment.
