For anyone who missed our last DAC Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, we’re pleased to say we now have another example in stock.

Finished in the instantly recognisable blue and silver livery, the Sunbeam Lotus needs little introduction. Born from rallying and homologation necessity, it remains one of the most charismatic and engaging performance cars of its era. Compact, lightweight and gloriously analogue, this is a car that delivers its thrills the old-fashioned way – through steering feel, balance and a wonderfully characterful drivetrain.

This example presents beautifully, sitting just right on its original Amil alloy wheels, now shod with period-correct Pirelli Cinturato tyres. It’s a detail that will not be lost on enthusiasts, contributing not only to the car’s correct appearance but also to the way it drives. Up front, the auxiliary Cibié lamps provide a subtle nod to the car’s competition heritage, while the short wheelbase and upright proportions underline just how focused these cars really are.

Inside, the cabin retains the correct Piccadilly cloth seat facings that give the interior its unmistakable period character. Deeply supportive seats, a simple driver-focused dashboard and an honest, functional layout place the emphasis firmly on driving rather than distraction.

Mechanically, the car has seen significant recent investment. Within the last two years, it has benefitted from a complete engine and gearbox rebuild, ensuring it drives exactly as it should. In addition, MSD electronic ignition has been fitted to improve reliability and drivability while remaining entirely in keeping with the car’s character. The result is a Sunbeam Lotus that feels tight, eager and confidence-inspiring on the road.

Under the bonnet sits the Lotus-developed twin-cam engine, neatly presented and clearly well cared for. Eager, vocal and full of character, it delivers a driving experience that still feels special today. On the road, the Sunbeam Lotus comes alive, with direct steering, a playful yet confidence-inspiring chassis and a level of involvement that modern hot hatches simply can’t replicate.
