1964 Jaguar

Few cars embody the spirit of 1960s motorsport quite like the Jaguar E-Type. Hilton & Moss are pleased to present the opportunity to acquire this Semi-Lightweight example. A car that bridges the elegance of the road-going E-Type with the competition-bred Jaguars of the legendary Lightweight programme.

Inspired by the factory Lightweights that dominated international GT racing, the Semi-Lightweight specification elevates the standard E-Type into a far more focused and visceral machine, reflecting the specification recognised for Pre-1966 competition by the FIA. Weight reduction is key with aluminium body panels and an aluminium engine block with wide angle head providing the biggest gains, with bumpers removed and flared rear arches crafted to accommodate a wider rear wheel and tyre for additional grip.

Power comes from the iconic 3.8-litre XK straight-six, paired with a triple Weber DCOE carburettor setup to deliver a soundtrack that is every bit as evocative today as it was in period. Bigger brakes with improved cooling are also fitted to ensure the car stops as well as it goes.

Visually, the Semi-Lightweight strikes a purposeful stance. Wide-arch bodywork, louvred bonnet, vented hardtop and boot lid and magnesium wheels give the car an unmistakable presence, while remaining faithful to the original design language penned by Malcolm Sayer. Finished in an all-white wrap over the bare aluminium body(specified by the former owner to minimise weight, such was the attention to competitive edge during the original build), the car presents a blank canvas for a livery, or can be left as-is for a cleaner aesthetic. Inside, the cars purpose is clear. A carbon fibre Tillet race seat with 6-point Schroth harness offers a lightweight solution for the driver. The vital parameters are monitored via Racetech gauges and a plumbed in Lifeline fire extinguisher provides another level of safety within.

This particular car was constructed by the well known Valley Motorsport stable, to meet the exacting demands of a customer to produce the 'ultimate' Semi-Lightweight car for competition in the worlds leading events. As would be expected for such an uncompromising brief the car has been proven exceptionally quick on the circuit, finishing 11th at the Le Mans Classic 2023 as the leading E-Type, beaten only by GT40 and Shelby Cobra’s on the day. The car also ran the full 2022 season of Peter Auto Sixties Endurance, ultimately finishing 2nd in the championship and again, the fastest E-Type. It once again showed this exceptional pace, winning at Mugello in 2024, driven by Maurizio Bianco and Phil Keen.

Most recently, the car has received a refresh by Hilton & Moss, with work including a strip down and rebuild of the carburettors, replacement dash top, renewed headlight and indicator lenses, new distributor cap and new splash shield rubbers fitted.

Having been inspected and prepared for sale by the Hilton & Moss motorsport team, this E-Type is ready for the track immediately and retains valid FIA HTP papers under Period F, until 2030. The engine, gearbox and diff are fresh with only minimal shakedown mileage completed following a comprehensive refresh at Valley Motorsport.
