The Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series

It is one of the purest and most uncompromising vehicles AMG has ever built. Introduced in 2007, it was developed from the successful Formula 1 safety car of the time and represents the essence of what AMG understands to be a road-legal race car. The model is based on the CLK of the C209 series, but has been extensively revised and largely redesigned to take the connection between the racetrack and the road to a new level. Under the hood is a hand-built 6.2-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine with the internal designation M156. The eight-cylinder engine delivers 507 hp at 6,800 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 630 Nm at 5,250 rpm. This enables the CLK 63 AMG Black Series to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and ultimately reach an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h. Power is transmitted by the AMG Speedshift 7G Tronic automatic transmission, which has been specially tuned to the characteristics of the engine and features a manual shift function. The chassis has been extensively revised for the Black Series. The suspension, with newly developed wishbones, coilover struts, and adjustable stabilizers, allows precise adjustment of track, camber, and height. The wider track, stiffer body, and consistent use of lightweight components give the vehicle impressive driving dynamics and direct steering feel.

Visually, the Black Series differs significantly from the standard AMG models. Wider fenders, large air intakes, a pronounced front apron, diffuser, and fixed rear spoiler made of carbon fiber underscore its motorsport DNA. The wheel spacers and 19-inch forged wheels not only give it a powerful look, but also improve road holding. Behind the rims is a high-performance braking system with large, perforated, and internally ventilated brake discs, which ensure precise pedal feel and enormous deceleration values. The interior is pure racing. Everything superfluous has been omitted. The rear seats have been removed to save weight. The driver and front passenger sit in RECARO sports bucket seats. The AMG Performance steering wheel with shift paddles, the carbon interior, and the minimalist controls convey an uncompromisingly sporty ambience. With only 700 units produced worldwide, the CLK 63 AMG Black Series is now a coveted icon of the AMG world. It embodies the transition between classic mechanics and modern technology. While later Black Series models such as the SLS AMG Black Series or the GT Black Series focused more on aerodynamics and electronics, the CLK 63 BS stands for raw, unadulterated power and mechanical precision. A tribute to the era of high-revving naturally aspirated engines.

The story of this Black Series began with its completion in September 2007, followed shortly afterwards by delivery to the first owner from Eningen near Stuttgart, Germany. He drove the vehicle regularly and had it serviced by Mercedes-Benz according to factory specifications on the following dates: on 29 August 2008 with 10,704 km, on 25 September 2009 with 19,544 km, on 26 August 2010 with 25,357 km, on 23 September 2011 with 33,858 km, on 7 August 2012 with 39,284 km and on 19 August 2013 with a mileage of 44,015 km. These dates can be traced thanks to the original service booklet. In 2015, he finally deregistered the car and decided to sell it. As a result, it ended up in the hands of a major AMG collector, who stored it as an art piece in his facility for the next ten years without driving it. Furthermore, he never registered the CLK, which is why only the first owner is registered in the German title to this day. At the beginning of 2026, part of the collection was purchased by Mechatronik, as a result of which this CLK Black Series came into our hands. Before publication, our workshop specialising in AMG carried out a major service to make the AMG completely ready for use after many years of standstill.
