2005 Renault Sport Clio V6 255 2005 Liquid Yellow

For Sale is my cherished Clio V6 that I have owned for 12 years.

This is my second Clio V6 255 and it is in excellent condition having covered a total of 33,900 miles of which 16,600 were by me since 2014. I would happily say I believe it is the best V6 in the country due to its condition, rarity, unique specification and provenance.

It is well known in Clio enthusiast circles as it was previously owned by Nick Trott when Editor of EVO magazine and appeared in 11 issues of the magazine in features and the Long Term Test section.

This car was also the cover star of the definitive Clio V6 book published 2 years ago called The Clio V6 Legacy by Duncan Powell, a copy of which will accompany the car.

One of only 18 UK RHD liquid Yellow V6 255, the car has been extremely well looked after by me as out of the 18 Liquid Yellow cars this was the one I wanted due to its’ great condition and low mileage.

The paintwork is believed to be original (and tested by paint meter) even on the front bumper – which is rare for a V6 as they attract stone chips, and many are on their 3rd or more respray. Liquid Yellow can be difficult to paint match so it best to keep the original factory paintwork.

Upon buying the car I had it Ceramic wax coated and the front treated with a PPF and this has protected the car well with only a couple of chips noticeable and one small lower bumper mark where it brushed a raised kerb. The rest of the paintwork is exceptional and could pass as new as the wax coating has been renewed over the years.

The car is standard apart from two upgrades which could be returned to standard. The first is the fitment of period correct Recaro Trendline seats which lower the somewhat high driving position by 10mm. Then I had custom made lower seat rails fitted which reduce the height by another 20mm providing a much more comfortable position.

I also had the seats recovered from the usual black so that the trim matches exactly the dark grey door card material. As a final touch for the interior the steering wheel was recovered by expert “Snappy” with matching yellow stitching, who also changed the stitching on the gearshift and hand brake gaiters to yellow.

The original seats will be supplied with the car.

One other very sought after upgrade that is so rare I don't know of another UK car with it, is an Orbisoud Road exhaust. Made in France two versions were available – a Road or Race version. This was double the price of exhaust systems available in the UK and was more sophisticated in that it provides an amazingly deep burble at tick over and low speed, rising to a spine tingling sound at the rev limit, but on the motorway under light throttle it quietens into the background and does not blare loudly like some of the cheaper boxes that seem more like a straight pipe.

Last year I enjoyed a road trip to Magny Cours Race circuit in France, and it was a joy to drive even after 8 hours,

The original exhaust box will accompany the car upon sale.

Mechanically the car is perfect and was recently serviced 6 months ago before the trip to France. I have always used the Clio V6 guru Scott at SG Motorsport as did the previous owner who had the exhaust fitted by Scott.

The service book records the 10 services over the last 20 years - approximately in line with Renault’s recommended intervals of 2 years or 12,000 miles. So it goes to its next owner in perfect condition I have booked it in for the major cam belt and axillary belts service at SGM but if the car sells before then I will deduct the cost of the service from the price and transfer the service slot to them as SGM is currently taking new bookings for May onwards.

I had a new Trackstar tracker fitted in 2020 when the original fitted by Renault went out of service with Trackstar.

The car has been driven over the Summer months between June to October each year and is dry garaged all year round at my home. During the SORN months it is started every month and the battery topped up on charger when necessary.
