1973 Ferrari

A very nice right hand drive UK supplied example of the desirable Spider variant with a great history and Ferrari Classiche certification.

The Dino was ordered new on the 14th of June 1973 by Maranello Concessionaires on behalf of Brandon Motors, then the official Ferrari Dealer for Warwickshire. It was part of the July factory build allocation for Maranello Concessionaires and was completed then delivered to Brandon Motors in early October 1973. The official documentation on file from Ferrari confirms this information.

The first owner, a Mr John Davison Douglas of Wellingborough took delivery on the 1st of December 1973 and retained the Ferrari until June 1978. During his ownership the car was returned to the supplying dealer, Brandon Motors, for servicing as confirmed with stamps in the original warranty card which remains with the car.

In 1978 the Ferrari was purchased by the GB Car Centre of Wellingborough who sold it on to Mr Geoffrey Pugh, a noted Ferrari collector based near Kettering. He kept the car for the next seventeen years and did very little with the car.

In December 1996 a Mr Phillip Devereux Latham purchased the Dino. At this point the Dino, whilst remaining original and driving, was starting to show its age and so a full restoration was commissioned. This work lasted throughout 1997 and was completed by Dario Lofreda, a well-known and respected fettler of Ferrari at this time. The bodywork was stripped and refurbished, the engine, suspension and gearbox were completely rebuilt as were all ancillaries. The interior was retrimmed by R J Passam. This work is all detailed in correspondence and invoicing on file along with many photographs of work in progress.

The car remained with Mr Deveraux Latham until 2002, he used the car very sparingly and used the highly regarded Dino specialist, Nick Cartwright, for maintenance, as noted in invoicing on file.

In 2002 the Ferrari specialist Bob Houghton Ltd were looking for a very good Dino GTS for a client and so naturally they approached Nick Cartwright who suggested that this Dino would be the right car and might be available. A deal was agreed and Nick Cartwright carried out a service and dealt with any faults found for Bob Houghton Ltd as detailed in an invoice on file.

Mr Kingsley of London purchased the Dino at this point, trading in his Ferrari 355 Spider for it as noted in a bill of sale on file. He continued to enjoy the Dino until 2010 and diligently returned the car to Bob Houghton for maintenance as noted in further invoicing on file.

In 2010 Dick Lovett Ferrari, the official main dealer in Wiltshire purchased the car and following a full check over and major service they submitted the Dino for Ferrari Classiche certification which it was duly awarded. They sold the car to the next owner based in Hampshire who retained it until 2012. He used the car sparingly and again maintained it carefully with Ferrari specialist Rardley Motors as detailed in invoicing on file.

In 2012 the car was sold by a specialist dealer to a well-known motoring enthusiast based in Gloucestershire, he used official Ferrari dealer Dick Lovett Ferrari for maintenance as per invoicing on file.

In 2024 the Dino was bought by a regular Hairpin customer and collector of note from whom we have just purchased it. He kept the car in a heated garage and has used it very sparingly on dry days only. Following purchase, we sent the car to Bob Houghton Ltd for full evaluation and servicing. Their review of the Dino was very positive, and any faults found have been addressed as detailed in invoicing.

So in summary, a lovely example of a UK supplied Dino GTS model that needs nothing and is ready to enjoy over the forthcoming Spring and Summer months. It comes with the above-mentioned history file, the original book pack in the correct leather wallet and the Ferrari Classiche red book.
