Description
A very nice UK supplied right hand drive matching numbers example finished in Opalescent Grey with a black leather interior and perhaps the finest E Type I have ever driven. Indeed, it came as no surprise to learn that it was fully restored by the renowned historic race car engineer Peter Chambers. Peter restored and maintained many famous and successful historic race and rally cars over many years from his premises in Tewkesbury before his recent retirement.
Peter carried out a nut and bolt restoration of this E Type over several years on behalf of his father who owned the car from 1987 until 2014. It was completely stripped down and every component of the body and drivetrain was assessed and refurbished or replaced as required. Some desirable and subtle upgrades were carried out including fitment of Coopercraft brake callipers and disc and pad upgrade. A Le Mans style fuel filler is beautifully integrated and a set of Borrani wheels really do suit the car. The suspension features adjustable Koni shock absorbers, front anti roll bar and a solid mounted steering rack and rear subframe which greatly improve the handling as I experienced.
Further desirable enhancements include a bespoke wiring loom, stainless exhaust system, braided fuel lines with modern electric pump, electric cooling fan and Alcon electronic ignition.
Since completion in 2016 the car has covered several thousand careful miles and has been correctly maintained by Hardy Hall Restorations and noted Jaguar engineer, Guy Broad.
It remains in fabulous order throughout and really does need to be driven to be fully appreciated. It is now available with history file and toolkit at a very sensible price.
