Overview

The 2007 Lotus Elise S2 111R is probably one of the most complete versions of the Series 2 Elise, combining Lotus’s trademark lightweight engineering with a more powerful Toyota-sourced drivetrain. At this stage in production, the S2 had matured into a sharper yet more usable sports car, and the 111R variant sat near the top of the range, retaining the bonded aluminium chassis tub and glassfibre body panels that define the Elise, keeping the kerb weight typically under 900kg and preserving the car’s famously direct, unfiltered driving character.

Fitted with the 1.8-litre Toyota 2ZZ-GE engine, this produces around 189bhp and, paired with a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox, makes for a fantastic combination. The engine features VVTL-i (variable valve timing and lift), giving a distinct high-cam changeover at around 6,200rpm, after which it pulls eagerly to over 8,000rpm. 0-60mph takes around five seconds, but the Elise’s low mass and superb chassis balance make it feel far quicker, especially on a twisty road where it’s most at home. Steering is unassisted and exceptionally communicative, while the double-wishbone suspension setup maintains the Lotus trait, delivering remarkable precision and grip.

This particular car comes with the optional Touring Pack, which was designed to make the Elise more comfortable and practical without diluting its core ethos. Cars specified with this option typically feature leather-trimmed seats, additional sound insulation, full carpeting, electric windows, auxiliary front driving lights and an upgraded stereo system. The soft-top roof lining is also double-insulated compared to the standard Elise roof lining. These additions subtly civilise the cabin, reducing road noise and making longer journeys far more pleasant, while adding only a marginal weight increase.

With just over 29,500 miles covered and an excellent service history, this 2007 111R with the Touring Pack strikes a very appealing balance, perfect for anyone looking to jump into a British-born two-seater sports car ready for the fast-approaching summer months.

Summary

This 2007 Lotus Elise 111R in Storm Titanium Metallic is a low-mileage (29,594 miles) ULEZ-compliant example that comes with an excellent service history, supported by invoices and original service booklets. The current MOT is valid until January 2027 and was passed with no advisories.

The interior is in excellent shape throughout, finished with red leather ProBax seats and the Touring Pack. The Elise features air conditioning, Alcantara accents, an Alpine head unit, a carpet kit and extra sound insulation.

The 111R Elise remains a focused, analogue sports car with minimal driver aids, but it is far easier to live with than earlier, more spartan Elise variants, thanks to the Touring Pack. Considered one of the sweet spots of the S2 range, it offers a high-revving 1.8-litre VVTL-i engine with excellent reliability, making it a very desirable option for anyone looking to step into Lotus Elise ownership.
