Description
Furlonger are pleased to offer this extremely rare Lamborghini Diablo SE30 – 1 of 150 examples produced and believed to be 1 of just 18 configured in right-hand drive.
The Diablo SE30 (Special Edition – 30 Year Anniversary) was unveiled at Sant’Agata in September 1993, during the third annual Lamborghini Day celebration where over 150 owners attended. At the time, GT racing was amid an exciting resurgence after years of Group C prototype dominance, turning privateer drivers to a new breed of more cost-effective production-based cars. Homologation requirements were profoundly lessened, with just a single road-going version of the racing variant, meaning it was inexpensive to supply mildly tuned cars. Taking all of this into account, Lamborghini wanted to produce something more than just a typical special edition with some additional features – something much lighter, more powerful, better balanced and faster than its predecessor.
The Diablo SE30 featured the traditional 5.7-litre V12 engine, but this time a lightened version thanks to modified cylinder heads and intake manifolds made of magnesium. Now equipped with reprogrammed digital multi-point fuel injection and a free-flow sports exhaust system, power output was increased to 525bhp. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission with new ratios, a dry single-plate clutch, ZF final drive and limited slip differential. Suspension is formed of independent double wishbones with single coil sprung dampers at the front and two dampers per side at the rear. The SE30’s brake system, supplied by Brembo, is comprised of four-piston callipers at the front and twin piston callipers at the rear, over ventilated brake discs.
Cosmetically, the SE30 has some distinctive differences over that of other Diablo versions, most notably on the exterior of the car. Revised front and rear bumper assemblies, re-profiled side intakes, a slatted engine cover (all formed from carbon fibre) and new rear spoiler were all manufactured specifically for the car. The SE30 features single piece tele-dial magnesium wheels supplied by OZ Racing to further weight reduction. Internally, the car is clad with carbon fibre – a newly finished central tunnel, door cards, and single piece bucket seats. Overall, the SE30 weighs in at 129kg less than a standard rear-wheel drive Diablo and an astounding 178kg less than a Diablo VT.
Chassis no. LA12111 was delivered new via Lamborghini concessionaire Kingsway Cars Hong Kong in March 1995, specified in Viola SE30 over a Beige interior – the same specification it wears today. Further, this car was optioned from new with electric windows and leather trimmed door cards over the conventional Lexan sliding vents.
Due to extremely low build numbers, the Diablo SE30 has generated a well-deserved cult following among Lamborghini collectors across the globe. Naturally, this has made these cars highly desirable and led to many of them being sold and exported to different countries – something that Furlonger has seen with most Diablo SE30s we’ve handled. Chassis no. LA12111 would remain in Hong Kong for many years before being purchased by someone in New Zealand, where it would reside until Furlonger acquired the car in 2025.
Showing just 7,120 km from new, this Diablo SE30 has been used diligently in warm and dry conditions, evident from the car’s internal and external condition which is a testament to the careful ownership it has seen throughout its life.
This is the first time that this Diablo SE30 has been publicly offered for sale in the UK to date, making for an exceptional opportunity to purchase one of the rarest and most collectible Lamborghinis produced. Built to commemorate the marque’s 30th anniversary and built in extremely low numbers, it’s no surprise that the SE30 is quickly becoming the focus of the most discerning collectors. Finished in what is arguably the most sought-after colour, manufactured specifically for the SE30, and showing just 7,120 kilometres, Chassis no. 12111 would be suited to the finest of collections.
Furlonger workshops will conduct a comprehensive service and any maintenance required within the sale.
