I'm selling this on behalf of a friend who lives in Switzerland. He uses it when he comes over to visit and has done some decent long journeys, but it doesn't do many miles overall. He's selling because he's injured his back and needs a higher car (I've suggested a Jazz but he claims he's not that old yet) I've got the car, all the paperwork etc, but you're obviously welcome to speak to him on the phone. I've had a good look round and done a few little jobs to it and have tried to include everything I've noticed and that my friend's told me in the advert.
Quick summary:
Good:
Lovely solid example with overall nice paint, mechanically solid and it seems a great basis upon which to improve further.
Bad:
Not bad as such but there are a few bits of wiring and trim fitting that could do with tidying and fettling and a few minor jobs to sort a few bits and pieces.
Ugly:
The paint while very good overall could do with a bit more of a flat 'n' polish in places (i.e. the headlights), a few little marks, a bit of crazing on the rear bumper but remarkably clean and straight. Interior in good contion, but could do with a wet vac when the we have more than 1 day of sunshine
Body:
As mentioned (and as can be seen in the resto photos) it's a really clean and solid example. The work was done by the previous owner. While he's done a very good job, you can probably find a few areas that would be better with a flat and polish, a little overspray on seals removing etc. Overall the car looks stunning, I only noticed the little bits when I've been washing it and studying in detail. There's a small dent in front of RH Rr wheel and a very small crack in the paint on LH Fr wheel arch. Some marks on the mirrors and a few little bits around, but very very little to detract from the car. Rr bumper has slight crazing on the top edge. Targe tops remove and are in good condition.
Powertrain:
Decent engine and lovely tight gearshift. It will need an oil service soon (though as you'll see from MOT history it's not gone far. Good oil pressure and pulls well to high RPM. The owner tells me it burns a little bit of oil (no smoke). Exhaust blows a bit but it's in good condition (whole centre part is new) and just seems to need a bit of tweaking and perhaps some paste. Underneath seems dry. In general, IMO it could do with a bit of wiring tidying up in the engine bay (routing, clipping, removing redundant wires etc)
Chassis:
Lovely ride and handling with good control and no knocks or bangs. Wheels great condition. Brand new Vredestein all season tyres all round. Brakes are strong. Handbrake works fine, but needs a good pull and is better one side than the other.
Interior:
Lovely blue and grey velour with no rips or tears. Leather (or leather look, I'm not sure) dash, no cracks. Original stereo. Super 80s style and a lovely place to be (as my son said when I picked him up from school, "wow, this is amazing in here!").
The whole interior would benefit from a wet vac, especially the carpets - the passenger side has a stain and the driver's is just a bit grubby (would also benefit from mats to protect). Need to source some trim clips for the sill covers and some of the trim in the boot. HVAC works to an extent - fan is fine and you can adjust the temperature in the hot direction, but not cold (unless you manually do under the bonnet). Electric aerial doesn't work, heated rear window doesn't work (connector tabs need soldering). Carpet needs replacing in the boot as it's shrunk (just a a simple flat carpet so can be made yourself).
Service history:
Big file of information with the car and please see resto photos. Loads of old MoTs. As you can see from the MoT history, the meter/odo was replaced. Based on the original mileage and mileage since with the replacement meter, the car's done ~95k miles.
So in summary, a cool, lovely solid car that you could jump in and do a road trip tomorrow, but with a scope to potter around doing a few little jobs to make it perfect.
Viewing welcome just North of Milton Keynes and test drive possible with proof of insurance (or I'm happy to demonstrate to you). I can put you in touch with the owner.
No scammers please, just normal people.
