No.023 of just 300 examples, the Honda CR-Z Mugen RZ is a rare sight even in Japan, let alone here in the UK. Based on the retro inspired Honda CR-Z, which itself takes clear cues from the classic Honda CR-X, Mugen transformed the platform into something far more serious.

Finished in the RZ only Azure Blue Metallic, it features forged 17 inch Mugen alloy wheels and a full Mugen aerodynamic package including an adjustable front spoiler, rear diffuser and an enormous carbon fibre rear wing. Inside, the cabin is lifted with RZ specific seats with blue inserts, blue stitched steering wheel and a special Mugen aluminium gear knob wrapped in dry carbon.

The real magic however lies under the bonnet. Mugen fitted a centrifugal supercharger, increasing output to a far more exciting 174 bhp and 193 lb ft, supported by a Mugen cat back exhaust with dual titanium tips, uprated brakes and five way adjustable suspension. The result is what many consider the ultimate version of the CR-Z. Rare, distinctive and genuinely usable as a fun, efficient JDM daily.

Imported by Torque GT in 2022 as a grade 4.5 example, this 2013 Honda CR-Z Mugen RZ has covered just 38,000 miles and is number 023 of the limited production run of only 300 vehicles produced by Mugen Motorsports.

Factory Mugen specification includes the centrifugal supercharger conversion, forged 17x7J Mugen alloy wheels, adjustable front spoiler with LED illumination, carbon fibre adjustable rear wing and rear diffuser with LED fog lamp. Performance upgrades continue with the Mugen cat back exhaust with dual titanium tips, uprated discs, calipers and pads, micro mesh brake lines and five way adjustable Mugen suspension.

The interior carries exclusive RZ details including seats with blue inserts, a blue stitched steering wheel, Mugen aluminium gear knob wrapped in dry carbon and a factory boost meter.

In addition to the factory specification, this example benefits from a number of carefully chosen upgrades including Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, Mugen blue tint mirror glass, Mugen carbon fibre mirror covers, carbon wrapped interior door handles and an upgraded Android ready dual Bluetooth head unit with steering wheel interface, front and rear cameras and Pioneer speakers.

As a later 2013 model it benefits from the improved lithium battery IMA hybrid system. Battery capacity remains identical to that of a brand new pack as verified via OBD2 diagnostics. The car has also been serviced by Honda HQ including coolant, oil and a full brake fluid flush, while the supercharger traction oil and filter have been replaced.

The odometer remains in km/h to retain authenticity.
