Overview

If you're after a Mazda MX-5 (as one of the most fun cars to hoon about in you really should be) and you're the type of person not to worry about such things as originality, preferring instead to focus on performance improvements and drive-ability enhancements then you really ought to be looking at BBR GTi modified examples. Like this particularly tasty 2018 ND Sports Nav model.

BBR GTi have been at the forefront of MX-5 tuning for years now and are incredibly well-respected within the industry, providing numerous levels of performance modifications for every generation of MX-5, from the original NA cars to the latest incarnation, the ND. The ND series MX-5, such as this example, was unveiled in 2014 and is the fourth and current generation of Mazda's venerable roadster. Whilst it is an excellent and hugely capable sports car straight out of the factory those requiring a little extra oomph from the car's inline four-cylinder will no doubt end up turning to BBR GTi. From turbo and supercharger kits to brake, suspension and gearbox upgrades they really are the experts when it comes to extracting every ounce of potential from an MX-5, whatever the generation and the increases in power and drive-ability can be really rather staggering.

Fitted with one such BBR GTi Stage Two Supercharger Kit this particular car, bought by the current vendor from BBR themselves, has been professionally modified to produce a horsepower figure to the tune of 245bhp, as claimed by BBR. It isn't just the power output where we see an improvement though. The car's suspension and brakes have also been tweaked and thanks to Koni yellow adjustable dampers with BBR lowering springs and Eibach anti-roll bars, plus Wilwood four piston calipers up front, it has the handling and anchors to match its blistering pace.

Presenting in excellent condition throughout, including underneath thanks to a recent vapour blast and underseal, the car looks the part with its retractable fastback roof and Sparco Trofeo alloy wheels. With plenty of history and a long, advisory-free MOT it appears to be in fine mechanical fettle with zero issues reported.
