The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
A supercar disguised as a Gran Turismo. It’s the only way we can describe the 599 GTB, Ferrari’s first front-engined V12 flagship to properly harness 21st-century technology.
With a stunning function-first aerodynamic Pininfarina body, a mildly detuned version of the ferocious six-litre V12 found in the Enzo and a mind-boggling suite of Formula 1-derived next-generation electronic aids designed to inspire confidence in the driver whatever the circumstances, the 599 GTB was the most accomplished car Ferrari had ever built, snatching the breath of even the most discerning automotive journalists. And yet despite its technical proficiency, here was a car which managed to conjure all the beauty, romance and soul of Ferrari’s front-engined V12 GTs of yesteryear. Think 330 GTC, 275 GTB, 365 GTB/4 ‘Daytona’. That old-school class.
This Ferrari 599 GTB
The right-hand-drive 599 GTB we’re offering was bought new by its first and only owner on 1 December 2006 from the Official Ferrari Dealer Graypaul in Edinburgh. He opted for the exterior shade of Rosso Corsa over a Beige interior with contrasting Bordeaux carpets. He specified a raft of desirable factory options including the 20-inch Monolithic Challenge-style wheels, carbon-fibre steering wheel with LED rev lights, four-point harnesses (just like those in an Enzo!) and cabin fire extinguisher.
In the years since this 599 GTB was delivered back in late 2006, the car’s covered a mere 2,720 miles and been routinely serviced by a handful of Official Ferrari Dealers between Scotland and England, most recently in March of this year. Its condition is accordingly excellent – the bodywork is blemish-free, the Rosso Corsa paintwork retaining its bold and bright allure, while the gorgeous Beige leather looks as fresh as the day the car left Maranello. A remarkable fact considering this Ferrari is now almost 20 years old. Furthermore, we’ve had the car comprehensively detailed, including application of Gtechniq’s Crystal Serum Light ceramic coating, which not only enhances the gloss of the paint but also protects its for up to five years.
In addition to its factory books, spare key, tools, tyre repair set and original Ferrari purchase invoice, this 599 GTB also retains its ultra-rare Vehicle Identification Passport, detailing this particular Ferrari’s factory production process in a series of behind-the-scenes photographs. We’ve certainly never encountered a 599 GTB that’s felt so fresh. At a time when collectors are coveting low-mileage limited-production modern-era Ferraris more than ever before, this single-owner 2,720-mile 599 ticks all the right boxes. It’s a wonderfully cherished and highly original example of Ferrari’s first proper 21st-Century flagship Gran Turismo.
