Description
Stunning 2001 X308 XJR with rarely optioned “R1” package and impeccable service history including new timing chains.
For those that don’t know what this is, the R1 package was a very expensive and rare option that included larger Brembo brakes and callipers, beautiful BBS Milan split rim wheels an additional suspension tuning. Making the standard XJR much inline with the XJR 100 models.
This is a 2001, with the later AJ27 engine on 94,000 miles. Finished in Mistral Metallic with Nimbus grey interior and Walnut Burr Trim. It belonged to a fellow JEC owner who I bought it from in September last year. He was a mechanic (retired) and owned a garage business in Darlington for many years. He had a small collection of rare cars and owned this one for 7 years. As well as the R1 spec, I specifically bought this car as it is rot free and mainly garaged and regularly lanoguarded. I was able to inspect the underside fully before purchasing. As you know, a rust free jag is a rare thing!
The previous owner did about 15k miles over 7 years and he spent a lot of time and money making it as good as he could. This includes:
Full Gen 3 timing chain kit
Knock and Lambda sensors replaced
Injectors checked, ultrasonically cleaned
All new belts and vac lines
Gearbox oil and filter change
New headlining
Wheels refurbished and new tyres
AC refreshed
Super charger fitted with 10% increase pully and oil changed (Pully increases midrange torque)
Powerhouse uprated alloy intercooler (Original jaguar ones are problematic)
Uprated secondary water pump
Refurbished A frame and uprated rear Anti-roll bar and links, suspension top bushes, bump stops etc
New front wheel bearings
Refurbished callipers and new Brembo disks and pads all round.
Loads of new gaskets and seals when chains were done and the supercharger was off.
Then in the 7 months I have had the car, I have given it a full service, changed the thin plastic coolant hoses that go brittle with age. Fitted a new Bosch battery, replaced one upper lambda sensor and the airflow meter. A fresh coat of Lanoguard.
I’ve fitted rear silencer straight pipes get a bit more V8 sound out of her, but standard silencers will come with the car. She runs great, starts on the button and has been very reliable and is very quick for a 25 year old car.
Factory spec includes:
Premium Sound (Alpine) with CD Changer
Brembo R1 Brake kit
Milan R1 Wheel set
Super Sport Suspension
Heated Seats
Headlamp Wash
Intrusion Alarm
Cell Phone
Auto dim mirrors
Sports Seats
Reverse parking sensors
Full sized Milan spare wheel
Active damping
Rain sensing wipers
Heated Windscreen
Wire Mesh XJR Grille
Power folding mirrors
Bad bits, not many! The memory function on the electric seat doesn’t work. Adjustment works fine but it won’t save the settings. Car phone doesn’t work but I am guessing it is a 2G phone. Paint is very good. Looks more like a 10 year old car than 25!
Will come with a massive service history folder going back 20 years. 2 Keys, all the usual books and manuals. The next service is due in September. Last MOT had no advisories, will put another 12 months MOT on it for new owner (currently not due until May)
