Description
Morgan deals in heritage. In a throwaway world, it continues to build cars using techniques and tooling that date back nearly a century, albeit now refined with modern technology. The company’s roots lie in three-wheelers, originally developed to sidestep car tax in post-war Britain. Those early cars built a loyal, almost cult-like following. Morgan revived the layout in 2011 with a modern interpretation, often adorned with WWII fighter liveries, and famed for its S&S V-Twin engine, mounted right out front.
3-Wheeler production ended in 2021 and was quickly replaced by the all-new Super 3. Ditching the motorcycle engine and building the car on Morgan’s new CX-Generation platform resulted in a true 21st-century adaptation of a motoring icon. Despite sharing the CX-Generation platform with the Plus Four and Six, the Super 3 is almost entirely unique.
Take this Super 3, for example, hand-built in Malvern, it comes complete with its build biography, a carefully collated book detailing the build from start to finish. Despite the limited surface area available, the original owner was able to select nearly £10,000 worth of optional extras. The exterior bodywork is finished in Heron Grey, and the interior trimmed in Burgundy leather, which we’ll come to shortly.
The Heron Grey paintwork is contrasted by plenty of black detailing. The wheels, rollover hoops, mirrors and fly-screen frames are all moodily finished. The aforementioned interior is trimmed in “Typhoon Mulberry” Leather, with vertical pleating. It’s a classy specification paired with the Tawny veneer dash and jet-fighter inspired switch gear.
The Super 3 is powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged Ford unit, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox borrowed from Mazda. 635 kg of curb weight and 117bhp mean that the Morgan makes the sprint to 60 in just 7 seconds, and if you’ve taken enough brave pills, will carry on to 130mph.
Despite its sparing use, this Super 3 has been consistently maintained. The full records show two main services:
02/2026 – Annual Service & MOT at 867 miles – Techniques Morgan
02/2024 – Engine and Axle Service at 412 miles – Morgan Works
You can see why these cars have garnered the fandom they have. Nothing about it is practical or logical in the same way the original three-wheelers were. Instead, this is a vehicle purely built to bring joy, not only to the driver and passenger, but to anyone who happens to see it.
As with all our vehicles, an entire digital folder is available upon request and contains more images, walk-around videos, and scans of the service history. The car can also be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
