The Ferrari 488 Challenge

It is a racing car developed specifically for use in the Ferrari Challenge racing series and represents a logical evolution of Ferrari’s 8-cylinder models. It was designed to combine peak performance on the racetrack with a particularly direct and controllable driving experience. At its heart is a 3.9-litre V8 turbo engine that delivers 670 hp, offering exceptionally high performance. The engine is characterised by its efficiency, high revs and direct power delivery, making it particularly well-suited for track use. Power is transmitted via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which enables fast and precise gear changes and is optimally tuned to the demands of motorsport. A key focus during the development of the 488 Challenge was on weight reduction and improving driving dynamics. Through targeted measures, the vehicle has been made lighter whilst simultaneously increasing its rigidity, which has a direct impact on performance and handling. The chassis and aerodynamics have been extensively revised to ensure greater downforce, improved stability and more precise handling.

The 488 Challenge also sets new standards in aerodynamics. The front end has been designed to channel air efficiently through the cooling systems whilst reducing drag. At the rear, an optimised wing provides additional downforce and improves stability at high speeds. This is complemented by targeted air ducts to cool the brakes and other components. The car is designed entirely with racing in mind. The interior is functional and stripped back to the essentials to save weight and offer the driver maximum control. At the same time, the technical design allows for precise tuning to suit different track conditions, making the 488 Challenge a versatile and high-performance racing car. The Ferrari 488 Challenge marks an important step in the development of Ferrari Challenge cars and brings state-of-the-art motorsport technologies to a racing platform developed specifically for customers. It combines high performance, advanced aerodynamics and precise handling to create a car that offers an intense and direct driving experience for both ambitious drivers and experienced racing drivers.

This Ferrari 488 Challenge was entered by the HubAuto racing team in the 2018 Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific series. With a mileage of just 2,460 kilometres, it offers the ideal introduction to gentleman motorsport and participation in high-speed track days.
