The Ferrari 488 Spider

Three seconds dead. That’s the astonishing time (or lack thereof) it takes for the 661bhp Ferrari 488 Spider to travel from nought to 60 miles per hour. And that’s with no roof above your head – and no obstruction between your ears and the gloriously gruff note emanating from the car’s twin exhaust pipes.

The performance of Ferrari’s first open-top forced-induction mid-engined V8 supercar is frankly dizzying. But it’s the miraculously approachable manner in which the 488 goes about both delivering this performance and ‘day-to-day’ driving that is arguably even more impressive. That’s thanks to a mind-bendingly complicated suite of Formula 1-derived electronic aids, which are so advanced they adapt to your driving style in real time. This Jekyll and Hyde character is only amplified by the nifty folding hard roof, which transforms the car from a closed coupé to a convertible in just 14 seconds.

This 488 Spider

The right-hand-drive 488 Spider we’re offering was bought new by its first and only owner on 6 November 2017 from the Official Ferrari Dealer HR Owen in London. He opted for the exterior shade of Rosso Scuderia, a bolder and brighter shade than the more common Rosso Corsa, in which Ferrari’s Formula1 cars are ordinarily finished. Contrasting the exterior are matching Rosso Scuderia brake calipers and a gorgeous Cuoio interior.

He also specified a long list of optional extras, ranging from convenient to aesthetic. If we were configuring our own 488 Spider, we’d certainly have also chosen the suspension lifter, the adaptive front lighting system and the carbon-fibre driver zone with steering-wheel LEDs. That said, the stitched Prancing Horses on the headrests, the Daytona-style seat inserts, the Italian flag emblem on the boot lid and the footwell-mounted leather-trimmed fire extinguisher are all very nice things to have, too.

In the years since this 488 Spider was delivered back in late 2017, the car’s covered a mere 2,750 miles and been routinely serviced by Official Ferrari Dealers, most recently in March of 2026. Its condition is accordingly excellent – the bodywork is blemish-free, the Rosso Scuderia paintwork retaining its bold and bright allure, while the gorgeous Cuoio leather looks as fresh as the day the car left Maranello over eight years ago. Needless to say, this Ferrari retains its factory user manuals, spare key, tool kit and compressor, and even its original sales invoice.
