So, if youre after something thats got a bit of American musclebut without all the usual nonsense like terrible build quality and driving like a sofa on wheelsthen have a look at this: the Jeep Avenger.

First off, the name. Avenger. Thats not a car name, is it? Thats something Tony Stark would come up with after about three coffees and a mild ego boost. You dont pop to Tesco in an Avengeryou assemble.

And visually, its fully committed to the superhero thing. Black on black on black with a bit of diamond cut. It looks like its permanently on a stealth mission. Like Black Panther might come out and tell you off if you scuff the alloys.

Now, the sensible bitbecause apparently we have to do that. Its come straight from Motability, so its one owner, full-service history, and its been properly looked after. Not yeah, I gave it a wash once looked afteractually looked after. And its still under Jeep warranty until September 2027, which is nice. Takes a bit of the stress out of things, doesnt it?

Spec-wise, its ridiculous. Proper someone got carried away ticking boxes energy. Youve got a 360-degree camera, parking sensorsso even if your parking skills are questionableyoull be alright. Loads of safety tech like lane departure warning, a digital cockpit, and full smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. So yes, your entire lifecalls, texts, music, sat navcan now be controlled by tapping a screen instead of dealing with your own thoughts. Lovely.

And thenthe bit everyone pretends they fully understandits a hybrid.

So around town, youre gliding about on electric power, feeling smug. Proper I recycle now energy. But then, when the battery runs outor you actually need the car to do somethingthe engine quietly steps in. No drama, no panic, no sitting at a charging point questioning your life choices.

Theres even a little display that shows when youre using battery, engine, or charging it back up while braking. Which is nice, because it makes you feel like youre doing something clever, even if youre just driving to Aldi.

Its actually pretty impressive. Annoyingly so.
