Description

Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971, the Ferrari 365 GTC/4 represented Maranello’s effort to blend the formidable performance of the Daytona with a more refined grand touring character. Built for a brief production run spanning 1971 to 1972, approximately 500 examples were completed, ensuring the model’s enduring rarity among front-engined V12 Ferraris of the era. Styled by Pininfarina, the GTC/4 featured a subtle 2+2 configuration within an elegant fastback body, offering improved usability without compromising its sporting pedigree.
Mechanically, the 365 GTC/4 shared much with its more overtly sporting stablemate, utilising a tubular steel chassis and the 4,390 cc Tipo F101 Colombo-derived V12, here producing approximately 335 bhp. Fed by six twin-choke Weber carburettors and paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, the model was capable of reaching circa 160 mph, while offering improved flexibility and refinement. Independent suspension at all four corners, power steering, and a notably higher level of standard equipment, including air conditioning and electric windows, underscored its dual-purpose nature. In period, the GTC/4 was praised for its balanced weight distribution and more compliant ride, successfully bridging the divide between Ferrari’s traditional high-performance Berlinettas and the increasingly sophisticated grand tourers that would define the marque’s future.
This left-hand-drive example was delivered new to Canada in July 1972, supplied via Yonge Steeles Motors Ltd of Toronto. Originally finished in Oro Kelso over Pelle Beige, it has since been refinished in the highly attractive shade of Rosso Barchetta, which complements the model’s elegant Pininfarina lines to striking effect.
Early in its life, the car resided in the United States, where it is understood to have participated in a number of concours events. Acquired by its current custodian in May 2011, it was subsequently imported to the United Kingdom and registered here. Since that time, it has benefitted from attentive maintenance by a recognised marque specialist and presents today in superb condition, ready to be driven and enjoyed.
Importantly, the car was awarded Ferrari Classiche certification in 2011 and retains matching numbers across its chassis, engine, and gearbox. It is offered with a comprehensive history file, its Classiche “Red Book”, two keys, original handbooks, warranty card, and tool roll. Long regarded as a more refined and approachable alternative to the formidable Daytona, the 365 GTC/4 combines effortless V12 performance with genuine grand touring comfort, securing its place as a compelling choice for the discerning Ferrari enthusiast.
