EXTERIOR

This handsome VR6 presents very nicely in Brilliant Black Metallic. The body has just been treated to a full machine polish by our in-house detailer resulting in a lovely swirl-free finish with a great depth of shine. She’s very straight along both sides with excellent panel gaps and no unsightly scrapes or dents. Having previously been refurbished to a high standard the Speedline wheels are perfect with no kerb marking, and at the front of the car the original Hella lights are clear and free from moisture ingress. All the glass is original VW and it’s great to see the supplying dealer sticker still present in the rear window. The exhaust has been upgraded to a quality stainless steel item without being loud or boomy, and the automatic rear spoiler operates exactly as it should.

INTERIOR

The original black leather seats present immaculately having been fully re-trimmed to a very high standard in recent years. As a result, the bolsters are unworn and the upholstery is still perfectly soft to the touch. The steering wheel and gear knob are both original but remain in excellent condition with no notable wear. The dash and centre console are also in great shape, and we’re pleased to report there are no annoying squeaks or rattles within the cabin on test. The carpets are spotless and are well protected in the footwells by original Corrado rubber mats; an additional set of mats is included with the car. A tasteful Blaupunkt head unit with Bluetooth and USB connectivity has been fitted for modern convenience whilst still retaining that classic look.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

This lovely example has just returned from a full vehicle health check at our trusted classic car workshop. Under current ownership it has been looked after primarily by VAG specialists, Stealth Racing, who have also carried out a recent service prior to sale. Within the last 5 years the car has additionally benefitted from a timing chain replacement, a new clutch and cylinders, water pump, auxiliary drive belt and tensioner, oil cooler, front top mounts and bearings, all-new brake calipers, all-new shocks and springs, all-new discs and pads, 4-wheel alignment, and general servicing including HT leads and spark plugs. The engine bay presents in very nice original condition, and it’s absolutely spot-on to drive.

HISTORY FILE

Supplied new by The Dovercourt Motor Company in August 1993, the car has now driven 85k miles in the hands of 7 registered keepers. It was acquired by the current enthusiast owner in 2021 and during his custodianship it has been professionally dry stored. The accompanying documentation includes the original VAG document pouch with all owners’ manuals, the original dealer-stamped service booklet, invoices, MOT certificates and tax discs, a period sales brochure, and a spare key.
