Description

Reluctantly putting my roundie BMW 2002 up for sale. I purchased this car in summer 2022, since then I have worked to replace/fix/upgrade the car to a useable standard, with me commuting in it 2 or 3 times a week during summer otherwise it’s garaged. Whilst the car was in good stead when I purchased it, some things needed sorting, or I fancied upgrading. Below is a list of the bigger projects I’ve carried out.
Brake overhaul – Refurbished front callipers were on the vehicle when I purchased it, I’ve since had the brake master cylinder refurbished, all rubber hoses, fluid reservoir, and replaced all corner hoses with braided hoses. It also had new discs and pads at the same time. Car is run with ATE200 brake fluid. As the clutch uses the same fluid system, I also had the clutch master cylinder refurbished too along with a new clutch slave fitted, the slave has also had a braided hose fitted.
Coolant system – New OEM radiator, thermostat and some hoses have been replaced. Along with a replacement OEM coolant divider allowing me to install a STACK coolant temp sensor as the original can be unreliable.
Exhaust – A new OEM exhaust was fitted from manifold back as it was blowing.
Carbs – I swapped the Solex single carb to a Italian Weber 40/40 setup, with rolling road to fine tune and get the best out of the engine, resulting in a peak of 111BHP (see photos for dyno results). Along with this I fitted a fuel regulator & electrical fuel pump in the boot with inertia cut off, I had to blank the mechanical fuel pump as well. Along with this I sourced and fitted a coolant rerouting bypass pipe.
Other smaller items carried out:-
Replacement SACH clutch fitted, as old clutch was slipping
Gearbox oil swapped in 2023
STACK Oil pressure dial fitted
Engine mounts replaced
Dash bulbs replaced
Motamec steering wheel and boss
Switched 12v feed in centre console
Inertia seatbelts fitted
New Bosch battery
Car is generally solid with some rust minor showing in the usual areas. Seats are in good condition and I recently sourced some headrests (sadly in blue not black) to fit, after a retrim. The carpet in the drivers footwell has worn through, I had planned on re-carpeting the whole vehicle over summer. There is a small crack in the dash, around the raised part for the cluster. There is an issue with the fuel pickup, in that the dial is not working and the car will only use ¼ of a tank before “running out”, I tend to refuel after 100 miles as I’ve not found time to pull the sender. There is a noise when the car is idling out of gear, I believe this to be the clutch release bearing.
Currently I have not had an MOT on the vehicle, but I am looking to get one on ASAP.
I have all of the original bits still, that I’ll provide with the car in case anything wants reverting. As well as the original wheels (13” FPS) with no tyres, they do need a refurbish though. I do have the front bumper with a registration plate too
It’s a decent car with a few niggles, of which I wanted to sort in my ownership, but I need to release the money tied up in the vehicle. I’m happy to go over anything with a potential buyer, over the phone or in person, as I know the car inside out!
I’m 15 mins north of Oxford for viewing. Asking price of £20,000
