Description

The Porsche 911 is the most iconic sports car of our time. Launched in 1963, it continues to evolve, getting larger, more powerful and more accomplished with every generation.
The models from 1970-1973 are probably the prettiest cars Porsche have ever made and the ’S’ variant is particularly desirable with its higher performance engine, and iconic status was sealed when Steve McQueen used his road car for the opening scene of the film Le Mans in 1971.
Our PS Classic Touring series was originally conceived 20 years ago for the discerning owner who appreciated the authentic, timeless style of the 911 from the 70s, but was seeking increased refinement and attention to detail, in a car that was suitable for daily use.
With the concept proven, in 2008, we evolved our Series 1 into Series 1.5, which were visually identical to the Series 1 models, but effectively were fully built cars supplied with a 3-year 60,000-mile warranty when completed.
The example offered here was our original demonstrator and finished in the classic colour scheme of slate grey with a black interior. Based on an early 3.2 Carrera with the lighter type 915 gearbox, it feels nimble to drive like a period car, but with increased power, torque and more efficient braking. Unlike many later restomods, the emphasis was to capture the beauty and simplicity of a classic 911, using many of the original materials and features from the period. So instead of swathes of modern leather, aluminium rimmed dials etc, you are greeted with an interior trimmed with the same original basketweave vinyl found in the original 2.2 models. Similarly, the dials and dashboard are finished with a simple nod to the same period.
Moving to the outside, the eagle eyed amongst you will have observed that the correct gold lettering, grill, window frames, sill covers, and chrome surround lenses are all from the same period. Whilst the simple, cheaper (and often seen) option would be to fit polished aluminium items for the early look effect, for our cars these all feature a correctly anodised finish, as a genuine car would have in period and still look as good as new today. Similarly, the 7×15” and 8” x15” wheels are wider than standard to cope with the increased level of performance, but they are genuine Fuchs, not copies and again correctly finished in the period anodised and black finish.
