If the regular SLR McLaren is not special or rare enough, this vehicle is an exclusive SLR McLaren Edition, produced in only 25 units, and this example is number 14. This special McLaren Edition model was constructed by McLaren Special Operations, the in-house customization division.

The McLaren Edition was introduced as an enhancement package after SLR production concluded in 2010. Developed by McLaren in Woking, the package was intended to improve performance and provide a more aggressive aesthetic. Despite the original SLR’s 617 horsepower and 207 mph top speed, many owners sought these upgrades. Notable aerodynamic modifications included a restyled rear diffuser and a larger front splitter, both derived from the limited SLR 722 Edition, to improve airflow. Additional features comprised new side intakes, an enlarged active rear wing that increased downforce by up to 15 percent compared to the SLR 722, and acted as a larger air brake. Restyled air intakes above the lightweight ceramic-coated exhaust tips were designed to replicate the McLaren speedmark and serve primarily as an artistic element.

To reduce weight, a carbon-Kevlar front floor was installed, and a custom lightweight wheel design originally developed for the 722 S was used. The suspension was upgraded for a sportier configuration, lowering the ride height by 10 millimeters.

This example features distinctive metallic red paint that shifts to black in low light, creating a dramatic visual effect.
