EXTERIOR
One of the rarest and most sought after Porsche 997 models, the Sport Classic features the ‘wide hipped’ body from the Turbo with the addition of a ‘double-dome’ roof, a Sport Design front apron and a fixed ducktail rear spoiler that harks back to the iconic Carrera RS. Littered with detail throughout the custom black-painted surrounds circling the standard bi-xenon headlights – reminiscent of those found on the 1974 911 Turbo RSR – look fantastic against the bodyworks factory black intake grids, mirror triangles and the lower sections of the mirror base.
The car sits in all of its original paint and presentation is first class having been garaged its entire life with typical areas such as lights, mirrors and rear arches showing almost no signs of use.
Not since the 993 C2S has Porsche produced a normally aspirated rear-drive variant with a wide body and with a considered execution of nostalgia, style and performance the Sport Classic looks every bit the special 911.
INTERIOR
The very special, highly sophisticated interior bears powerful testimony to the Porsche Exclusive programme – characterised by new materials never used before. The Espresso theme incorporates woven leather and yarn fabric into the newly designed adaptive sports seats, complete with light-grey piping, while the door card design of leather, weave and flocked carpet is a masterpiece. The balance of materials is perfectly presented with flashes of aluminium detail to the gearknob, handbrake and sill strips alongside a glovebox mounted model designation.
The unique carpet set also remains unmarked with the no-cost optional rear bench installed but likely to have never seen any occupants. Tech presence in the form of heated seats, Enhanced Nav and Bluetooth providing a strong case for daily driving duties.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Power is supplied by a modified 3.8 flat-six from the Carrera S partnered exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox. All Sport Classics were fitted with the ‘Power Kit’ available as an option on the 911 Carrera featuring ported and polished combustion chambers, special resonance intake manifolding, a remapped ECU, new exhaust system and a Carbon-Fibre airbox working together to provide a significant power hike.
A revised Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and 20mm lower ride height sharpens handling alongside a mechanical LSD fitted as standard.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Drawing on the iconic Fuchs design, the black centres and polished lips look fantastic against the grey bodywork. Original and unmarked the 19 inch wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza rubber showing plenty of tread.
Stopping power comes courtesy of the mighty Porsche Ceramic Composite Braking system.
