1986 LOTUS ESPRIT

Giugiaro - Lotus Esprit S3 Turbo HC - Oct 1986 build. One of 135 UK cars made, one of 5 Silver Frost cars made, and the only one with a red leather interior. Sunroof and A/C model.

Owned by the last owner since 1997. He was an engineer and loved this car like a baby. There are ring binders of history with the car…(See the photo!!)

Within, there are photos and a line-by-line history of everything it has ever had done.

81,000 miles, but it really doesn’t mean that much when you see the work and maintenance carried out, including an engine and gearbox rebuild.

The car has now gone through the workshop at Lotus Esprit specialists SJ Sportscars Ltd for a service and checkover. (They've known the car and the previous owner for donkeys' years.) This included a cambelt service and many small jobs to get the car up to our required standards. It's still a sizable invoice, but the car was lovely to start with; it just needed a few things to make it even better. The car is still with them; should you want to speak to Ross, who's been doing the work, he thinks the car is excellent. I'm also happy that while the car is there, anyone seriously interested in the car can view it at SJ. Please call me if you'd like to arrange that.

In the first half of May, the car will be making its way to Leicestershire, where the usual detailed photos and video will be taken, and I’ll attempt to get the history into some sort of summary.

It hits ‘Historic’ status this November.
