The MGA was a complete departure in styling. Its beautiful streamlined body was a major change in terms of appearance from the previous T-series cars and it was powered by a new 1489cc, 4-cylinder B-series Engine mated to a 4 Speed manual transmission taken from the MG Magnette saloon and the new MGA was produced by BMC's MG plant in Abingdon, Oxfordshire from 1955 until it was replaced by the MGB in 1962. A total of 101,081 MGA's were built by the British Motor Corporation between 1955 and 1962 and of this total, roughly 95% were exported, primarily to the USA. Production included various models including the MGA 1500, 1600, 1600 MkII, and the MGA Twin Cam. This stunning original UK Right Hand Drive MGA 1600 MK1 Roadster was built in Abingdon in 1959 and first registered in Manchester on 13th August 1959 with the numberplate 812 VMM which it still retains today. This car has only had 4 former keepers from new according to the registration history and it was purchased in 1995 by a Mr Richard Evens from Hillingdon in Middlesex in August 1995 who undertook a full restoration of the car which included many new panels, various upgrades including a rebuilt 1622cc Engine, Gearbox rebuild, new Suspension and Brake upgrades, Cooling system, new interior trim and a full repaint in British Racing Green. The extent of the works carried out was enormous and there are a huge number on invoices for all parts purchased in the history file. After 15 years of ownership, the car was sold by Mr Evans at Coys Auction in October 2010 and purchased by a couple from Marlborough, Wiltshire and they had the car regularly maintained by both Stanton Motorsports in Membury, Berkshire and latterly by well known specialists Mike & Graham Reeder in Membury, Wiltshire and there are a number of invoices for works carried out by both in the history file. The car was then sold and purchased by the current owners in May 2022, but it has hardly been driven during the last 4 years and consequently they have decided to sell it as they are now spending more time abroad. The bodywork and paintwork are both excellent as are the shut lines on all doors, boot and bonnet, and there is is no apparent blistering or rust on any panel of the car and as you can see from the photographs. The interior was re-trimmed in Biscuit leather to a very high standard and still presents superbly along with the 'as new' Tan Soft Top, Tonneau Cover, Hood Cover and Side-Screens. This car drives extremely well and handles beautifully on the open road. The uprated 1622cc Engine and 4 Speed Gearbox are both superb and cooling is aided by an automatic electric fan and the car is sitting on a set of 15'' Steel Wheels with good Firestone 165/15 Tyres all round. There history file is very comprehensive detailing works carried out and new parts obtained by its previous fastidious owners and any inspection and test drive will not disappoint. The car is clear on all HPi Registers and is of course classified as an 'Historic Vehicle' meaning it is Road Tax free, MOT exempt and ULEZ compliant. Upon sale, the car will come with a new MOT, pre-sales service, a 6 Month Warranty and will be ready to drive away. Delivery can be arranged anywhere in the UK at additional cost if required. NB: A full set of photographs and a walk-around video will follow upon completion of our showroom preparation. Now available for viewing at our Mortlake showrooms in South West London. Note: All descriptions are offered in good faith based on documentation and information provided by previous owners. Buyers are encouraged to inspect the vehicle in person to satisfy themselves of its condition and suitability. This does not affect your statutory rights.
