1998 TVR CHIMAERA

It’s time to say goodbye to my TVR Chimaera. As you’ll see from the MOT history, I really haven’t been driving it much for the last couple of years so time to pass it on to someone who’ll get proper enjoyment out of it.

The car has been rigorously maintained, mostly by TVR specialists (TVR101, Kent TVR and Harrogate Horseless Carriages), had the outriggers replaced by TVR101 14,000 miles ago and a new radiator fitted 1,000 miles ago. It sits on Uniroyal Rainsport 5 tyres with a good amount of tread and has the usual amount of scratches and stone chips for a TVR of its age.

The car has just had a 12k service with TVR 101 (which included a new battery), has full year’s MOT (no advisories) and, at the same time as the service, also had a new alarm and immobiliser fitted by Carl Baker (who is well known for his expertise in this area within TVR circles).

Other modifications to the standard car include remote boot release, high lift boot struts (to make refuelling less awkward), seat belt extenders to make belting up easier, carbon fibre dash and a DAB radio with Pioneer rear speakers (which you still can’t hear over the engine!). It’s always been garaged in my ownership but for long trips also comes with a waterproof half-car cover.

The V5C alleges the car was registered in 2000 however this is the UK registration. It’s a 1998 car first registered in Austria before being brought to the UK in 2000 (documentation supplied showing this was resolved in 2007 and was followed by the issuing of its current registration).
