Overview

Still looking as fresh and purposeful as it did when it was unveiled back in 2005 during the VH platform era, the Vantage S marks the final chapter for this generation of Aston Martin. As a send-off for the VH platform, it represents years of development, with the Vantage refined into something far sharper and more complete. By this point, it had become a proper driver’s car, especially in 4.7-litre V8 manual form, like this one.

True to its roots, this is a car from before everything went digital and paddle-shifted. There’s no dual-clutch gearbox here, just a proper manual that puts you right at the centre of the experience. Combined with the naturally aspirated V8, it delivers a level of involvement and feel that’s hard to replicate in more modern machinery. It’s mechanical, direct, and rewarding in a way that newer cars often aren’t.

As an ‘S’ model, it gets a handful of subtle but worthwhile upgrades. There’s a slightly larger rear ‘flip-tail’ spoiler for improved aerodynamics, revised suspension that sits a touch lower and feels more planted, and a small bump in power, which is enough to make a noticeable difference both in looks and on the road.

This 2017 Aston Martin Vantage S is a particularly well-kept example, showing under 10,000  miles from new and only two former keepers. The current owner has had it for five years but has covered around 400 miles in that time, so it’s clearly been used sparingly. However, it hasn’t seen much use recently due to a change in the owner’s health, which is ultimately why this much-loved Vantage S is now being offered for sale with a just-completed service and MOT. If you're after an almost box-fresh 4.7-litre Vantage S, look no further.

Summary

This is a 2017 Vantage S model which has covered fewer than 10,000 miles and has essentially been preserved in a time capsule.

Finding a V8 Vantage S with the manual gearbox is already a win for driving enthusiasts, as most buyers at the time opted for the automated Sportshift. However, pairing that desirable specification with such low mileage and a solid service history makes this a top-tier investment piece. Usually, these cars are either high-mileage or have been owned by several people, so having few former owners and low mileage suggests it was truly cherished rather than just passed around.

At that mileage, the 4.7-litre V8 engine is barely broken in. While the price might be slightly higher than that of a high-mileage example, the lack of wear on the interior bolsters and the crispness of that manual linkage will make it feel like a nearly new car. It’s a rare opportunity to own the peak of the analogue Aston era in fantastic condition.
