Lots of money spent on the car, especially over the last few years, around £12k.
See pictures receipts - Suspension, new Dansk exhaust silencers, new brake discs, and plenty more. From the receipts prior to, and during, my ownership it is evident that what this car has needed it has received.
I purchased the car in July '25 from Eporsch, a Surrey Porsche specialist, who only buy and sell good examples that are mechanically decent. This is a good example of a 996.1 C2.
I've put over 3.5k miles in the last 9 months, the car hasn't missed a beat, hasn't required an oil top up, a great sign of a healthy engine. It drives great, pulls hard over 3k rpm like a 996.1 c2 should, and the Dansk exhaust sounds raw and visceral.
It's a decent example with a strong maintenance history to back this up. One thing worth mentioning is that the IMS may be the original.
I have service invoices going back to 2010 mostly from Cridfords and Eporsch, but none of these mention the IMS as having been changed. It may well have been, but it's impossible to know without basically changing it. Neither Cridfords or Eporsch could confirm and Porsche don't keep data records that old. This wasn't an issue for me personally as being a gen 1 996 there's a chance it contains the double bearing anyway and after 25 years you would think if it was going to fail it would have done so already, this view was echoed by Eporsch. Plus if you've done your research you'll know the whole IMS thing is so over blown. But anyway, I've left a few thousand £ off the price which easily covers the cost of getting the IMS solution installed if desired, and there'll be a good something left over towards a new clutch/flywheel should you want to do these items at the same time as some tend to do (but to be clear both are working perfectly well).
Paint/body work is decent, few swirl marks and blemishes, nothing a little detailing couldn't handle. The alloys are ok, a few scuffs on 1 or 2 that some might want to sort out but not enough for me to personally act on right now. Interior is ok, some signs of age, but on the whole good. It's not a garage queen, but it presents well, and most importantly mechanically its in good condition.
The car has the recommended N rated Michelin Pilot Sport tyres newly added in February this year.
In my ownership I've always warmed the car up properly over 5 miles or 15 minutes minimum before going beyond 3k rpm. I've never used E10 petrol, only the supreme level.
MOT'd till 04/2027. (the car actually failed it's last MOT initially but on very minor points - a side light and tracking rod dust covers - both fixed as required)
Reason for selling is simply because I want something new....I tend to change sports car every year, though I've no issue hanging on to it. The 996 is definitely starting to gain in popularity. The 996 definitely feels a lovely mix of the raw characteristics of the 993 and the useability of the 997. Just the right amount of car for our roads.
Happy to discuss the car in more detail.
Can send more pictures or a video on request.
Priced fairly at £17,000. Black
*The picture of the dials shows the oil above max, this is only because the car is not on flat ground.
**Can be ULEZ exempt if applied for.
