Overview

There's just something about a Morgan, from any era, that evokes joyfully wistful feelings of nostalgia amongst petrolheads the world over. Whether it be the adherence to “that” particular style, making every model instantly recognisable as a Morgan, or the perfect blending of said classic aesthetic with more modern underpinnings. Morgan has carved a unique path for itself over the years, remaining a stalwart of both the contemporary and classic car scenes and the Roadster is a prime example of this match made in heaven.

On the face of it though, the Morgan Roadster appears little different from the Plus 8 model that it replaced back in 2004 but delve a little deeper and the distinctions start to become more apparent. Yes the ash frame and hand built coachwork remains and the exterior bodywork is basically the same, retaining the old school charm of the Plus 8, but underneath all of that typical Morgan craftsmanship beats a very different heart. 

Gone is the antiquated Rover V8, replaced by a much more modern, efficient, and yes, more powerful Ford Duratec V6 - an all-aluminium, quad-cam 24 valve lump developing 223bhp that can propel the Roadster to 60mph from parked in under five seconds. Chuck in some sports suspension and typically agile handling from such a lightweight car and it all gets very tempting.

This well-maintained, especially low mileage 2009 Roadster is one of circa 63 special edition cars built to commemorate Morgan's centenary and comes to market in great shape throughout and benefits from an extensive service history with its last inspection having reportedly been carried out in April 2025 at 17,993 miles, with the car only having covered around 500 miles since. 

In addition to the usual Centenary trim pack enhancements this Roadster has also been fitted with myriad other performance and aesthetic upgrades, including a host of interior and exterior accoutrements, a Librands sports exhaust, SSL front suspension with adjustable dampers and a Williams Morgan ECU remap, all of which enhance not only the car's looks but also its performance credentials. • In superb shape overall

• There are no dents and only some minor stone chips to the wings commensurate with age and mileage to note

• Unique Mercedes Amazon Green metallic paintwork remains in excellent condition with no evidence of any major corrosion but there is a very small area of bubbling by the near side rear reflector

• All shut lines appear to be uniform

• Brightwork all looks to be in fine fettle with no pitting

• Williams Morgan half front splitter 

• Stainless steel overriders, bonnet stays, mesh grille and chassis covers

• Stainless steel luggage rack with side screen storage

• All glasswork looks to be free from damage

• Matching green mohair easy up soft top remains in great shape with no rips or tears

• All 16” stainless steel wire wheels, including the spare, are in beautiful condition with no obvious corrosion or damage to speak of

• Tyres are all Michelin Pilot Sport 4 models fitted in 2021 which the vendor reports are in excellent condition and have covered around 1,500 miles since new

• The spare is an original Avon ZV5 which the vendor reports has 6mm of tread all round

• Underneath the car looks clean and free of any damage, repairs or obvious corrosion save for some usual very light surface rusting in places

• The vendor informs us that the underneath of the car received main dealer Waxoyl rustproofing in 2019

• Vendor reports that the car starts with no issues, drives very well, the brakes are excellent and the Ford V6  engine produces more than enough power and torque to make driving fun, with the sound of the Librands sports exhaust suiting the car and making the right amount of burble without being intrusive
