Overview
The 991 GT3 is a masterpiece of modern engineering that successfully bridged the gap between raw motorsport heritage and daily usability. Its crown jewel is a screaming, naturally aspirated flat-six that wails all the way to a spine-tingling 9,000 rpm, while rear wheel steering imbues it with a level of agility that belies its exterior dimensions.
However, this is not your common or garden 991 GT3. This particular example has been transformed and maintained at a cost reportedly approaching £300,000 into a track-ready yet road-legal Cup specification. And that’s not even including the original cost of the original factory car.
After buying the car new in 2014, the first owner - reportedly an infamous Hong Kong billionaire car collector - instructed Progressive Motorsport to convert it into a Cup car using genuine Porsche Motorsport parts, while retaining its original road engine and PDK gearbox.
Building on this, the 3rd Owner spent over £50,000 between January 2020 and April 2021 with Parr Motorsport (costs, we would note, not including some client-supplied parts) who were instructed to go through the car in meticulous detail to carry out any maintenance work required as well as numerous further upgrades.
These included the installation of a Drexler mechanical limited slip differential, a KMP professional quick release race steering wheel, a modified tune producing 468 bhp at the wheels, an AIM MXG-C dash, an air jack system, fully rebuilt calipers with new Cup discs and pads all round, solid engine mounts, replacement driveshafts, Race Logic HD2 V BOX, AIM reverse camera, AIM shift lights. In addition, they rebuilt and serviced all Intrax 4 way dampers and external reservoirs, and carried a full geometry set up to race spec, and carried out a major service including replacing all fluids and spark plugs.
Weighing in at around 1250kg, the results are nothing short of spectacular and make for a car that retains its road legal status but also make for a formidable track weapon. If you’re looking for the ultimate track day car that you can drive home again afterwards, then this represents a truly mouth-watering option.
