2023 FORD PUMA ST-LINE MHEV

Fresh on the forecourt this morning, weve got the Ford Puma. Yes, that Puma. And before you say it - wasnt that supposed to be a little coupe back in the day? - yes, it was. Youre absolutely right. But apparently now everything has to be an SUV. I dont make the rules, I just sell the consequences of them.

That said this isnt just some lazy reboot. Its actually pretty good. Its got a slightly higher driving position, obviously, because SUV, but you dont feel like youre sat on a bar stool like some of the others. Its lower, sportier, and the whole interior is very much set up around the driver - which is nice, because youre the one stuck in traffic, not the passengers.

And the handling - this is where it gets interesting. It doesnt drive like a boring family car. Its more like a hot hatch thats had a sensible conversation with itself. So yeah, maybe not hot hot more like a had a jog once this week hatch. But still fun. And then when youre done pretending youre in a car advert, its perfectly happy just cruising to the shops without any drama.

Size-wise, its one of those cars that manages to do everything without being annoying. Big enough for shopping, kids, pets, whatever stage of life chaos youre currently in - but still small enough that youre not sweating trying to park it in a tight town centre space while someone judges you.

This ones the ST-Line as well, so it actually looks like its trying. Bigger alloys, sportier styling, a nicer interior - basically the version youd pick if you didnt want to feel like youve completely given up.

Spec-wise, its got everything youd expect now - reverse sensors, sat nav, Bluetooth, touchscreen with Apple CarPlay so you can ignore people on messages in a more modern way. All the stuff that used to be exciting extras and now youd be annoyed if it didnt have.

Its a two-owner car, comes with two keys and service history, and well give it a fresh MOT and a service before you take it away - so you dont have to immediately start worrying about whats going to go wrong.

Because, believe it or not, we are actually that nice.
