Description
The time has come for me to sadly part company with my rather rare 2010 Caterham Superlight R500 SV Duratec, one of only a handful of R500 Duratec SV’s in existence. I bought the car in 2021 and it has been a fabulous car for me, but I also have a Caterham track car and sadly can’t justify having two, now that I don’t have much time for road driving.
Up until just before I bought it, it had annual services with Caterham. Since then, I’ve used McMillan Motorsport in Hinckley, who run their own Caterham series and thus know pretty much everything about these cars. The last service was 20th January 2026 and the service book is fully stamped up for all of this and supported by invoices for my ownership. The service invoices for prior to my ownership are also in the file. The MOT is due in May 2027, so has a full year to run.
In addition to the usual servicing, over the past few years, the following has also been done:
• 2026 – new front brake pads
• 2025 – new lowered floor on drivers side
• 2025 – new JWM lightweight lithium battery & charger
• 2025 – new front brake discs
• 2025 – new rear brake pads
• 2024 – new upgraded clutch, including gearbox strip and refresh
• 2024 – new catalytic converter
• 2024 – new upgraded Billstein suspension all round
Below is the (updated a little) details from when I bought the car.

Summary –
A very rare opportunity to own an amazing Caterham Superlight R500 SV Duratec, one of only about 10 ever made! It’s been an amazing car for me and with the care over servicing, upgrading parts etc, I have every confidence that it will continue to be an amazing car for many years to come.
The first owner used the car mostly for touring through Europe and somewhere I think I have a spreadsheet showing pretty much every mile he drove. When I purchased the car, it had 35k on the clock and it now has 39k. Although it’s relatively high in the Caterham world, as I mentioned, the regular maintenance had meant it’s not missed a beat. I couldn’t be doing with keeping up the spreadsheet, so the last 5k miles are not recorded on there.
In summary, it’s an amazing car with great performance, which is mechanically sound and well looked after. On the negative side, the white paintwork could do with refreshing. The nearside has a bit of gravel rash and a small dent, but both sides have some bits where the paint has come off, so all the white could do with a refresh. I have chosen not to get the painting done, as I would do it exactly as it is, but a new owner may prefer a new colour scheme.
Price wise, I feel the stated price is very competitive, given the upgrades etc and what else is on the market, but I am open to some sensible negotiation on this, but no silly offers please. I have an agreed insurance valuation of £35k on the car.
If anyone wants specific pictures, let me know and I’ll get them done as soon as I can.
