1996 FORD ESCORT

This Escort RS Cosworth was built in October 1995 and registered as ‘N423 GOO’ by Ford Motor Company Ltd on 2nd July 1996. It was specified with the Luxury Pack and finished in Ford Aubergine metallic with Grey Hexagon Cloth interior. The car has completed just 12,700 miles from new at the hands of its 4 owners - with the first owner being Ford Motor Company themselves - and the first private owner keeping the car until 2019. As expected from the mileage, it is an absolutely immaculate and highly original example, with the underside presenting as brand-new thanks to its fastidious owners.

Our Escort Cosworth was kept by Ford UK from July 1996 to early 1997, when the car was sent to Brooklyn Ford in Redditch and supplied to its first owner on 14th January that year. The first owner completed just 8,577 miles in the car before he placed it in professional storage in 2006. It wasn’t until 10 years later (June 2016) at 9,208 miles that the car was taken out and recomissioned with a full fluids, filters and belts service. The car was then MOT’d and driven only 600 more miles with the original owner before being sold on in May 2019. The second owner was wholly dedicated to keeping the car as original and as immaculate as possible while being able to use and enjoy it as intended. Shortly after purchasing it, he removed the original suspension and kept it in bubble wrap so as to not put any wear on it while he used the car. He had another large service carried out, a new clutch and Clifford immobiliser fitted and drove the car over 2,500 miles to various shows and events over the next two years. In late 2021, he decided to sell the car, he re-fitted the original suspension components, replaced the exhaust system and all brake discs, pads and hoses to ensure the underside was totally as-new prior to selling on. A number of small NOS spare parts were also acquired during his ownership, a box-full of which remains with the car. The third - and current - owner purchased the car in early 2022 and has added 500 more miles and two more services with the last being just 100 miles ago in late-2024. The car has been to many Ford shows over the last few years and comes with a small collection of trophies to show for it.

Today, the car’s mileage stands at 12,750 and it is presented in immaculate, original condition. It is nigh-on impossible to fault the car. The Aubergine paintwork looks to be all original and is in perfect order, having benefited from a ceramic coating in recent years. The interior’s only sign of use is some light creasing on the driver’s lower bolster and a worn Ford logo on the original radio, otherwise it is totally as-new and original. The underside of the car is also just as immaculate, with every conscious effort made to keep it as concours and factory-correct as possible (aside from the stainless steel exhaust system, of course). The photographs really do speak for themselves.

The history file includes all of the MOTs, maintenance and work carried out on the car over the last 10 years, as well as the first few MOTs, original logbook and a couple of early services. Unfortunately the original book pack was lost during the car’s period of longterm storage, however there are replacements available should the new owner wish to add to the history file and provenance of this lovely Cosworth.
