Overview
The R58 Coupe holds a unique spot in the Mini lineage. Launched in late 2011, it was the first notchback Mini and, more importantly, the first actual two-seater the brand had ever produced. Based on the Convertible's platform but fitted with a fixed aluminium roof structure, raked A-pillars, and a roofline sitting 29mm lower than the hatch, it was a genuinely different proposition. Add the integrated roof spoiler and a pop-up boot spoiler that deployed at 50mph, and you'd got something that looked like nothing else in the range. In John Cooper Works trim, the 1.6-litre turbocharged N18 engine delivered 211hp through a six-speed manual gearbox to the front wheels, with the whole lot weighing just 1,090kg.
This particular car wears White Silver metallic with a Chilli Red roof and matching door mirrors, a combination that suits the Coupe's lower, wider stance rather well. It's been in the same family since March 2017, covering fewer than 11,000 miles in nearly nine years of ownership, and the care lavished on it shows. The previous keeper was clearly an enthusiast who wanted more from the JCW's already potent drivetrain, commissioning a Stage 2 remap alongside a performance air filter and sports catalyst to lift output to 250hp and 350Nm. Bilstein adjustable coilovers followed, and tasteful cosmetic touches including JCW carbon fibre interior trim and Fox multi-spoke alloy wheels complete the picture.
With a documented history stretching back to its first service at an authorised Mini dealer, invoices for all modification work, a clear HPI check, and brand new MOT, it's a tidy, well-documented example of one of the quirkier modern Minis. Fewer than 42,000 miles on the clock, too. There's a lot to like here.

Summary
There's something genuinely endearing about the R58 Coupe. It was the oddball of the Mini family, a proper two-seater that traded rear seats for a lower roofline and a boot you could actually use. This one's been thoughtfully enhanced rather than simply modified, with a Stage 2 tune, Bilstein suspension, and subtle cosmetic upgrades all backed by invoices from a specialist. Nearly nine years in one family's hands, fewer than 42,000 miles covered, and a clear HPI check make it a reassuring proposition. If you've been after a JCW with a bit more character than the hatch, this could well be worth a closer look.
