Current milage is 52,179 miles
The Car comes with FULL service history, full invoice for ALL annual servicing and FULL MOT history and certificates – both have matching mileages recorded
MOT expires on 14th September 2026 but I’m happy to provide a new 12 month MOT with the sale (done 198 miles since the current MOT date)
Outriggers been replaced in 2016 / 42,189 miles by Bespoke Performance TVR (Now Hilton & Moss)

Original Pioneer Radio with removable front and CD player in the boot
Battery Isolator installed in the front grille as part of the TVR servicing by the previous owner
The car has always been dry stored / garaged during the ownership of myself and the previous owners
With plans for touring we are considering another vehicle that would suit some of the European summer tours (heat) better and the wife may feel more comfortable driving. I am therefore selling my Chimaera with a sale price reflective of the cars outstanding ownership, impeccable service history and the dedication already put in to bring this up to the current specification and condition, this is not the usual £10k car that needs lots of chassis or engine work and can’t be relied upon – this is a car that has already had all undergone the time and expense that will see it stay strong and looking good for years to come.
Ownership History
I am the 3rd owner, but Owners 1 & 2 were Wife and Husband – This can be seen c/w their full names on the paperwork and history
17-07-1999 - Originally Purchase Invoice dated in the name of then husband
02-08-1999 - First Registered in the wife’s name
12-09-2008 – Ownership transferred to the Husband (Same name as original purchase Invoice)
12-11-2023 – Ownership transferred by myself, sold by Hilton & Moss on behalf of the original owners
The car comes with copies of all 3 Registration Documents to date, the original sales invoice inc optional upgrades selected, and the Original TVR Sales Brochure
MOT & Service History
During the ownership of the 1st two owners Married Couple as above), the car was meticulously maintained with services every year and including all 6,000 and 12,000 miles main service schedules. The vehicle has averaged 1,800 miles a year but has undergone an annual service irrespective of the mile or service due by miles and had as minimal annual oil, oil filter, fuel filter and Spark plug changes (Plus any other items needed at the time)
In addition to a folder full of the MOT’s and Service History, I have collated a Spreadsheet that sets out the full service history along with the work done and parts replaced during the recent refurbishment works by myself
Annual Services and maintenance has been carried out by;
1999 to 2010 - The TVR Centre in Barnett
2010 to 2020 – Bespoke Performance (Bespoke Bought out The TVC Centre, Barnett)
2021 – Castle Sports cars
2021 to 2023 – Hilton & Moss
Nove 2023 to current – refurbishment and maintenance work carried out by myself
In addition to a FULL service and MT
My Ownership
Having previously built, maintained and raced 3No. Westfield Sportscars, including full engine builds (242 Bhp Normally Aspirated 2.0l Duratec in the last one) these were built to road legal specifications but aimed at entry in the WSCC Speed Series & Hillclimb events along with trackdays, however I replaced the Westy with a Mk2 Fiesta Trackday car and bought the Chimaera for road use and some touring (UK and Europe) with the wife. As can be seen from the maintenance detailed below, this car has been carefully maintained with lots of and precautionary servicing and parts replacements carried out to provide an original, comfortable and reliable touring spec sportscar that will run faultlessly for years to come.
I purchased the car in Nov 2023 having inspected the car beforehand and knowing the full history and condition of the car including engine and chassis. The engine, bodywork, main chassis, Outriggers and interior were all in great condition and have been well maintained and serviced. Whilst the chassis and outriggers were all in great condition, I bought the car knowing that it needed some TLC to replace or re-furbish the Wishbones, Shock Absorbers, Springs, Radiator and Coolant Pipes along with a bit of general maintenance and TLC for peace of mind.
The Engine, gearbox and Differential have been meticulously maintained throughout the original owners and this has been continued by myself with new fluids all round (even if they weren’t due), the engine starts with ease and runs smoothly throughout the rev range, I have checked its mapping on Rover-gauge and checked the settings and voltage at all sensors and senders and is reporting and running faultlessly. The car has always started without issue and has never missed beat in my ownership (and in the previous ownership as far as I am aware)
The sump has been re-sealed, and whilst this was off, I took the opportunity to replace the cruciform Oil seals (known to shrink), the crank output shaft was inspected and seems ok. I also took the opportunity to replace the Big-End bearings whilst the sump and cap No. 5 was off for the Crucifix seals, on inspection – the crank lobes, original / removed bearings, cylinder bores, and timing chain all looked in great condition
The Bodywork was and remains is in great condition, it has some minor stone chips reflective the age & mileage which I have lightly touched up, otherwise the paintwork is in excellent original condition with no major scuffs or any pealing or bubbling of the lacquer.
The Interior is in a clean and fantastic condition including all seats, trims, door cards and carpets, however the original Veneer Dashboard has a few small cracks around the heater control wheels as seen in the pictures, this was something that was on the cards to replace next winter, but does not stop anything working and not really noticeable unless your looking for it.
ALL Water pipes and fuel pipes have been changed to the correct grade (Ethanol resistant fuel lines) and the radiator has been fully rebuilt with a new core by a local specialist recommended by fellow TVR owners, all water temperature senders and sensors for the gauge and fan controls have been replaced for re-assurance. The Fan system also has an override switch installed as part of the servicing by the previous owner.
The starting system has never suffered from the Immobiliser or Hot-Start issues that are common for these cars, but I have installed the Hot-Start wiring kit as a preventative measure – this diverts the power to the starter solenoid via a new wiring kit and relay so the PCB board of the Immobiliser does not have to take the electrical load of the solenoid.
As stated above, I purchased the car knowing the chassis was in great condition and the outriggers had been replaced in 2016 and 10,000 miles ago by Bespoke Performance TVR (Now Hilton & Moss), however the Wishbones were calling for a re-furb so I had these sand blasted, Zinc primed and Powder Coated, I also had the same done for the rear uprights and both anti-roll bars at the same time. New metalastic suspension bushes (standard and best for touring) were installed all round (22 Sof them) and new mounting bolts / nuts used throughout. The shock Absorbers and Springs were also replaced with a brand new set provided by the highly recommended Ban Lang and using the Tuscan-S spec damping.
Brake Discs, Brake Pads, Top Ball Joints, bottom Ball joints and track rod ends have also been replaced, and all brake callipers fully re-built with new pistons and seals (the old pistons and calliper internals were immaculate once they were opened up, but replaced for re-assurance).
Below is an overview of the work carried out under my ownership. I’m sure I will have missed a few bits but this will show the extend of the work done to freshen everything up and give peace of mind in the reliability for now and the future.
