Overview
McLaren are truly unique amongst car manufacturers. Can you think of another brand that has entered the “mainstream” supercar market and made quite as much of an impact? We certainly can’t.
Since the launch of the MP4-12C, itself a phenomenally capable and well made machine, they’ve gone from strength to strength. Now firmly established as a genuine alternative to the German and Italian elite, they offer a level of fit, finish and sheer performance that bears comparison with (and often betters) anything else on the market.
While the 570S may be the most popular Sports Series McLaren, we can’t help but feel that a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 pumping 562bhp through the back wheels is awfully punchy for anyone. Make no mistake about it, this is no docile, easy going GT car. This is a red-blooded, full-throated supercar that’s perfectly capable of punching you hard in the kidneys, terrifying passengers and embarrassing extremely exclusive exotica when you point it at a ribbon of tarmac and bury the angry pedal.
As with all McLarens though, there’s another side to the 570S. When you just want to gently cruise down the motorway listening to Radio 4, or bimble about town doing the shopping, it’s happy to comply. You never get the feeling it’s straining at the leash and wanting to bite you for daring not to drive at ten-tenths; it’s comfy, easy and surprisingly refined. We’re not sure what kind of witchcraft they’re engaged in at McLaren, but if this is the result then we’re all for it.
This example is dressed to kill too. With a stunning coat of Vega Blue Metallic, over a cabin liberally slathered with dark grey and red Alcantara and leather, it manages to be both restrained and striking at the same time. We’re not quite sure how it pulls it off, but it’s a neat trick. Add to that the low mileage, great service history and attractive spec and you have a very, very desirable machine indeed.
If every supercar was as capable and well engineered as McLaren’s most popular offering, we’d be very happy indeed…

Summary
Even though this may be McLaren's most popular Sports Series offering, in reality it’s probably all the supercar you could ever need. It offers a fabulous compromise between old-school engineering brilliance and modern technology, pumps out a pretty monstrous 562bhp and wraps it all up in some quite beautiful styling.
It may be obvious, but we adore the 570S – and this is a great example, with a solid full service history and a cracking specification. Satisfying, thrilling and stylish, we can’t think of many supercars we’d rather grab the keys to.
