Description
This beautiful classic car has undergone a full professional backdate using a combination of original Porsche and Dansk parts, including a 1973 long bonnet conversion with new steel wings, bonnet, grilles and decals. Mechanically, the suspension and steering components have all been replaced, along with the brakes and wheel bearings. The engine is the renowned 3.2 Carrera unit with 126,694 miles and has been fully rebuilt using predominantly genuine Porsche parts. The engine was aqua blasted and meticulously detailed to ensure it both looks and performs exceptionally well. The performance is matched by an incredible sound from the custom exhaust system, comprising a full Dansk stainless steel straight-through exhaust with heat exchangers and a custom-made stainless steel rear silencer. The period-correct 915 gearbox has also been refreshed with a new Sachs Power clutch, starter ring and linkage bushes. Where possible, fasteners and bolts have been replaced with stainless steel items, and both front and rear torsion bars have been renewed for additional peace of mind. The car has undergone a full bare-metal body restoration, with all rust professionally removed and replaced using Porsche and Dansk repair panels. The chassis and subframe have been internally protected with wax oil, and the underside has been fully undersealed for long-term use. Finished in Porsche Slate Grey (code 22D), the car benefits from new front and rear lights, chrome horn grilles, triple chrome-plated door frames and handles, polished screen inserts, and bullet-style chrome mirrors. Adding to the individuality of the build is a 964 rear decklid and spoiler, manually operated from a switch on the centre console. The car is also fitted with upgraded LED headlight units that integrate with the original wiring and provide exceptional high and low beam performance. The interior has been fully retrimmed in St James Red leather, featuring Cobra RS bucket seats and a deep-dish Momo steering wheel with matching leather insert. The carpets have been custom made to complement the interior, while the rev counter has been colour matched to the seats and features a Carrera logo on the dial face. The Targa roof has also been fully refurbished in red mohair. All components of the heating system have been replaced, including the automatic system circuit board, potentiometer, temperature sensor and the heat exchanger flaps and cables Audio has been carefully considered, with a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB head unit, Alpine S2-A55V amplifier, Alpine SXE-4625S speakers and tweeters along with a new arial plus a PWE-V80 under-seat subwoofer. AudioQuest Golden Gate interconnects complete the system, delivering a detailed and engaging sound. An iPhone dock has also been discreetly integrated for charging and audio connectivity. Security is provided by a Sigma S30 microwave alarm and immobiliser system, allowing the alarm to remain active with the roof removed. A smart tracker has also been fitted. The car has further been modernised with an Auto-Vox rear-view mirror incorporating both a dash cam and reversing camera. Attention to detail throughout the build is exceptional, with numerous carbon fibre details, custom two-tone Fuchs alloy wheels, and Pirelli P7 tyres 285/40 rear and 225/50 front finished with genuine Porsche crested centre caps. The car has been built regardless of cost, with very little left untouched and genuine Porsche parts used wherever possible. Included within the history file are approximately 176,000 of invoices presented in a leather-bound folder, together with previous MOT certificates, ownership history, and the original service book containing service entries dating back to 1984 when Malaya Garage in Billinghurst, West Sussex handed over the car new on 17th March even the pocket guide to Porsche ownership booklet is still intact! While not totally complete, the history file does demonstrate excellent provenance for the car. A genuine one of one! For further piece of mind, the pictures highlighting the restoration along with an excel spreadsheet plus a precede version of this word document are on a Integral 64GB memory stick in order to preserve this history in time.
