This beautifully presented Porsche 356 Coupe is a particularly interesting and highly desirable example, representing one of the transitional T1/T2 cars produced during 1957. Combining features from both generations, these cars occupy a unique place within 356 production and are increasingly appreciated by collectors for their distinctive specification and relative rarity.
Originally supplied through Raftay of Hamburg, the car was delivered new to a serving member of the British Armed Forces stationed in Germany. Finished today in Solid Black with a beautifully contrasting Burgundy Leather interior, it remains an exceptionally attractive and characterful example. Of particular note are the factory sunroof and integral driving lights, both believed to be original factory-installed features.
The car benefits from a substantial restoration completed during 2007. The body restoration was undertaken by respected marque specialist Cliff Gregory before final assembly and completion by renowned Porsche 356 authority Roger Bray. Accompanying the vehicle is an extensive history file containing restoration invoices, detailed records and photographs documenting the work carried out. The quality of the restoration is evident throughout, with exceptional bodywork, excellent panel fit and precise shut lines.
As a transitional T1/T2 example, the car retains a fascinating combination of features including early style door handles with later buttons, the higher mounted T1 door catch arrangement and desirable teardrop rear lights. These subtle details highlight its position between two important stages of 356 development and contribute significantly to its appeal amongst knowledgeable enthusiasts.
Having covered just over 2,000 miles since completion of the restoration, much of which was accumulated whilst touring around the Italian Lakes, the car presents superbly today and remains exceptionally well preserved.
A rare opportunity to acquire a highly attractive right-hand drive Porsche 356 Coupe with fascinating provenance, specialist restoration history and desirable factory options. A beautifully restored and exceptionally well documented example of one of Porsche's most iconic early models.
