Designed and manufactured by Pininfarina, the Series 2 introduced the sharply cut ''Kamm tail'' (Coda Tronca), which improved vehicle aerodynamics and replaced the rounded ''Duetto'' tail of the original 1960's models. Factory-built RHD Spiders are incredibly rare because Alfa Romeo stopped building them at the factory in 1977 due to high production costs for small markets like the UK, Australia and South Africa. Only 3,095 factory RHD models (Tipo 115.22) were ever built between 1971 and 1977 and approximately 500 in 1973. This original UK supplied RHD Series 2 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce (Kamm tail) was supplied new by Alan Day Limited in Finchley, London NW3 to its first owner - Mrs M F Leary and registered in London on 21st November 1973. After 7 years, Mrs Leary sold the car to a gentleman in Wellington, Somerset in December 1980, but he only had the car for two years before selling it in 1982 to a Mr Thomas Bazley from Taunton in Somerset. Mr Bazeley commissioned Alan Bennett of Alfa Romeo specialists BenAlfa Performance Cars in Westbury, Wiltshire to fully restore the car in November 1988 with works including 4 x new wings, new inner and outer Sills, inner wheel arches, + doors and a full bare metal repaint and their invoice just for labour came to £4,272 without the cost of all the parts which was a pretty significant sum back then. There are a huge number of invoices in the history file for Mr Bazley over the following 10/12 years with 71 invoices alone from Alfa Romeo parts specialist E B Spares in Westbury, Wiltshire and quite a few others from Alfa parts specialists. In 1997 BenAlfa rebuilt the Gearbox at a cost of £1,260 and, for whatever reason, in February 2000, they replaced both rear wings, both rear arches, repaired the inner arches, o/s inner and outer sills, the n/s outer sill, o/s No2 panel, and the front lower panel, all at a cost of a further £4,660. Mr Bazley spent well in excess of £20,000 during his 22 years of ownership and he eventually sold the car in February 2004 to the next and 4th owner in Warwickshire. During his ownership, he replaced the Mohair Roof, fitted a new Grille, Stainless Steel Bumpers, new badges, headlamp covers, a new centre consul and a new carpet set. He only kept the car for 3 years and sold it to the current Italian owner in South Croydon in February 2007. Since its last MOT in 2009 with 80,443 miles recorded, it has not been taxed since 2012, and has been off the road and garaged and a SORN applied. In June 2020, the Italian owner decided to take it out of storage and 're-fresh' the car and he gave it to restoration specialist Gonnella in Catford, SE London, and they stripped and repainted the car and fitted a new Black Mohair Soft Top with their invoice coming to £9,013.51. Since then, it has hardly been driven and only covered a further 751 miles since it was MOT'd back in 2009 and has now covered a genuine 81,194 miles from new! Finished in Rosso Corsa with a Black interior and Black mohair Soft Top, its original 1,962cc DOHC Engine, 5-speed manual Gearbox, 4-wheel Disc Brakes, limited-slip differential, and sitting on a set of its original 14'' Melber Major Alloy Wheels. It has a near full service history with a huge number of invoices from the early 1980's + old MOT certificate's, its original Alfa Romeo Service Coupon Booklet, Dealer book, and ownership history. This car is in fantastic condition throughout and drives beautifully and upon completion of our showroom preparation, a full set of photographs and video will follow. Upon sale, the car will be given a new MOT and pre-sales service and will come with a basic 6 Month Warranty which can be upgraded and extended at additional cost if required.
