1974 FORD CAPRI

An immaculate and rare AVO Special Order MK1 Capri with a 3.1 Engine .

A Beautiful Car throughout ...This is a car that I had the privilege of owning a few years ago, and reluctantly sold to an old friend, who was building a significant classic collection .

As often happens with collections , he's decided to concentrate on other marques, so this special Capri has now come onto the open market for the first time in 40 odd years .

I've have known this car for nearly 30 years .. when it was discovered in a lockup garage in Ilford, where it had resided for some years previously ..

It was in remarkably good order ..

The car is well known in Capri circles ..

It was found, along with a MK1 RS 2000 and acquired by Gary White, who owned Supreme Motor Bodies in Wickford , who set about completely restoring the car to its current glory ...

Gary always insisted that this car was possibly one of the pre production RS 3. 1 cars, based on a GXL .

The car is registered as a GXL ...

The car was produced in Aveley as a special order car in Olympic Blue and it fitted with genuine RS Wings and bumpers . I also have another unrestored bootlid with the Rear spoiler ...

Gary was always being pestered to sell the car, then a few years ago, health issues forced his hand, and it was sold, quietly, to a close friend, who enjoyed it for a short while , before I finally managed to acquire it from him ..

A fantastic car and very rare in Olympic Blue ...

Fitted with a factory sunroof, and did originally have a vinyl roof ...

Gary meticulously restored it with a few modern upgrades , namely a Type 9 5 speed gearbox and Recaro Leather seats . The rear seats were retrimmed to match .

During the restoration, the engine was meticulously rebuilt to RS 3100 specifications , bored to 3100, fitted with Burton Stage 3 Heads, uprated pistons, Cam etc etc .. She's fast..

This is by far the finest Capri I've ever had the privilege to sell.. and we've had plenty .Its a superb car to drive and enjoy ...
